Schade.

Keeping the tan perpendicular and square to the surface is the ideal way to tap a bolt hole. Using the tool in a drill press ensures perpendicular holes to the face of the metal

I have no idea who left these “good quality” reviews.Machining quality is acceptable but the jaws are extremely poorly made.Runout on the tip of an M5 tap is about 3 mm.This will destroy both the tap and the hole.Useless junk.

I am a model engineer, I make steam engines and engineered models, I have been tapping small threads in metal for a fair while. I finally decided that I would try a spindle tap. The key benefit with this is that you can hold the tap wrench and the tap firmly in a chuck whether this is in a lathe tail stock of a milling machine or a pillar drill .The benefit is that the tap is held firmly square on the the work piece and doesn't wobble about as you are starting to engage the tap. In a pillar drill you can apply controlled pressure and turn the tap by hand to the tap whilst the drill holds the tap square on to the work. Its much easier to tap treads, especially small threads where the taps are inherently more fragile.I don't suppose these are best quality, but they work well enough and have allowed me to tap with confidence. I recommend this type of tool.

These tap wrenches are a must for any toolbox and home. They're mult functional and can even replace a drill if it's battery dies or just doesn't want to work. I always keep these on hand.
