These can be used on the bow and stern of my kayaks for comfortable carrying. I haven't needed to transport my kayaks yet this year so have not been able to test them as car-top tie downs, but they appear to be well suited for that funtion as well.

I thought these were actually a really smart yet super simple design for automotive tie down straps when I saw them so decided to give them a try. So far, they have worked out great. They seem to be of durable construction and materials. I think the fact that you don't have to modify or mount anything to your car in order to use them is great for people with certain vehicles that do not have cars that are equipped with certain features like roof racks or mounting points.

I got these to replace a set of straps that I use with my canoe. These can be used in two ways: as a vehicle hood/trunk strap for transporting a watercraft, or as a hand carry strap for getting your watercraft over to/in/out of the water. It came as a set of two straps. To use the straps for vehicle transport you slip the plastic end under the hood or trunk lid/hatch of your vehicle leaving the straps hanging out. You can then tie rope of the loops of the straps. There are many online videos recommending how to tie a canoe, kayak, etc onto a vehicle. Generally they recommend tying rope lines from the bow and stern (tip and tail) of your watercraft to the front and rear of your vehicle, respectively. This is when these straps are used.I included a pic of the straps because they are remarkable. First, the ends are hard plastic, so they won't be squishy and have much play when you tie up your watercraft. They also have slight finger indentations for making them more comfortable when used for hand carrying. They're about 1 inch in diameter and 4.75 inches long. The straps go through the center slat in the plastic ends. The different set I got before had foam rather than plastic ends, and I never felt comfortable using them for fear they'd slip out of the gap in the hood lid. No fear with these hard plastic ones.Second the straps are pretty long. I measured them at approximately 13.5 inches. This provides plenty of length to extend out from under the vehicle hood and trunk lid/hatch.All in all, they're a great set of straps.

These are easy to use and made of good materials. They held up well over the summer for multiple trips to the river with my kayak.

These help keep my kayak more secure when carrying on the top of my jeep. The nylon strapping can be a little slippery which is why I gave only 4 stars; however, this is the same material as other brands so there really isn't an alternative.

The product is very well made with solid straps, and the plastic stops are very hard solid plastic. Need to be a bit careful when placing the stops inside the engine compartment so you do not damage any wiring or tubing - not a big problem. The loop straps are plenty long and are very easy to work with. This has been a great tie down solution for me.
