I bought this for drawing curves for an extensive painting project and used it to draw curves on tape. The result was smooth perfect curves - saved a great deal of time.

Great price for a pair of these. The core is made of the metal Lead. Good for measuring smoothish curves, not sure of the modern applications of this tool honestly though, pottery and quilting perhaps? but I'm far from a professional flexible ruler user. This type of tool is definitely not suitable to duplication as it does not conform exactly to things you might be trying to duplicate, nor do they hold the exact shape of things ( like a contour gauge does). Though, with some trial and error, you may be able to bend them into some desired shape. Essentially these are an aid to help freehand drawing of curves, and to measure paths on curvy objects.

Hi I’m a seamstress of many yrs & mostly bridal, formal wear & costumes. I thought this might be handy. And it is!! I’m sure it’s useful for many projects but definitely a great aid for sewers on any level. It’s stiff enough to “stay put”, but very flexible. Love it!! Thanks, Katie T.
