I swapped this into my 10G SPF+ switch replacing a 1G Copper Eth module and it was compatible and was fine with auto-detect setting for the port. Very happy with it.

Bought this to connect a laptop I use as a Plex server to my Mikrotik CRS-309. First three weeks it worked great, then today out of nowhere the negotiation rate dropped from 2.5 to 1Gbps. Tried different SFP ports, rebooting and confirmed it wasn't an issue with the laptop's NIC - swapping to a different SFP+ RJ-45 module went right back to 2.5G.I've bought dozens of fiber and copper SFP+ modules from 10Gtek before and have usually had really good luck with them, maybe just ended up with a defective one this time.

Worked great in a CRS326-24G-2S+RM running RouterOS. I don't use SwitchOS, so I can't comment there.I did have to turn off auto-negotiation. In the web interface I went to: "Interfaces" -> "Interface" tab -> the SFP module entry. Then in the "Ethernet" section of the module, uncheck "Auto Negotiation", then select "Speed" to be "2.5G-baseT"In the CLI, it will be under "/interface/ethernet/THE_SFP_MODULE" and set "speed=2.5G-baseT"I have two of these. One connects to a Unifi Flex Mini 2.5G (USW-Flex-2.5G-5). And the other one connects to a Mikrotik CRS310-8G+2S+IN. Both are working at 2.5Gbit.

When you buy random electronics off Amazon, especially Chinese brands, it can be hit or miss. 10Gtek is a brand I will continue to purchase from. I've had no issues with their optics and am now pleased with these multi-rate transceivers. Please be aware that SFPs are a bit of a minefield in terms of compatibility. In the case of this product, there are two variants.. the fixed and the multi-rate version. The fixed version will present itself the same as a 2500Base-X optic and should function in anything that claims to support this rate and is not arbitrarily vendor locked. It will participate in auto-negotiation as far as the far end is concerned (to establish 2500Gbase-T), but it will never work at sub-rate speeds because it physically cannot due to the way it is electrically communicating to the switch or NIC.The multi-rate version uses the same form factor but communicates to the MAC using SGMII. If you don't know what that means, it is an implementation detail that the switch or NIC vendor need to have planned for. Most switch and NIC ASICs at these speeds (10g and lower) are designed to directly drive optics or otherwise external PHYs (like these SFPs) that eventually wind up to you as RJ-45 ports. But they also need to have plumbed this through to the software/driver that configures the port. So SGMII will tend to be compatible with fewer devices because companies are lazy, but when it works you can auto-negotiate all the way back down to 10mbit half-duplex as needed (it might not display this correctly in the user interface but it should work because SGMII works by repeating a N-gbit signal M times i.e. 1gbit to 100mbit means you repeat each bit to the PHY 10 times to allow for the sub-rate 100mbit).So try one or the other depending on your needs and consider that if it doesn't work on a particular device it probably isn't 10Gtek's fault.

It works on Mikrotik CRS3xx units (including my early model CRS310) and a few other models, but you have to run RouterOS v7.3 or later (bridge mode is ok), you have to turn off auto-negotiation and force it to "2.5G baseT", and if your RouterOS is earlier than v7.12, you also have to turn on full duplex. So it's a little tricky to setup, but that's Mikrotik's fault.

I recently purchased a 2.5 Gb SFP adapter, and unfortunately, it did not work as expected. I had hoped to use this adapter with my motherboard's 2.5 Gb and 5 Gb ethernet ports, but the adapter was not compatible with these speeds. After some research, I found that in order for this adapter to work, both sides need to be an Ethernet to SFP adapter. This was not clear from the product description, and it was disappointing to find out that I needed additional equipment to use the adapter as intended. The quality of the adapter seemed good, and it was easy to install, but its lack of compatibility with my current setup made it unusable for my needs. Unfortunately, I had to return the adapter and find a different solution.Overall, I would only recommend this 2.5 Gb SFP adapter to those who are aware that both sides need to be an Ethernet to SFP adapter. For those who are not aware of this requirement, this adapter may not meet their needs.

I purchased 2 of these adapters (model 2.5G SFP-T) for the SFP ports on my Banana Pi BPI-R3, one for the modem and one for the desktop PC. These ports do work, but with one major caveat: The Ethernet device you connect these ports to must have 2.5GBe support. When testing on a 1GBe USB port, I had no signal, but when I plugged into my motherboard with a 2.5G port, it worked perfectly.

This device works perfectly in configurations *that support it*. Make sure your switch or router is compatible with negotiating at 2.5Gbps at the port. This won't work in SFP ports and this also won't work in SFP+ ports that do not support manual negotiation at 2.5Gbps. That means things like the Unifi UDM Pro and SE will not work with this on its SFP+ LAN port. Likewise, the two reviewers who tried this with a Unifi Aggregation will *not* work as that doesn’t support 2.5Gbps manual negotiation. However, products like the Unifi Enterprise and "Pro" lines of switches (including the Unifi Aggregation *Pro*, again not the regular Aggregation as with the other two reviewers), as well as the Mikrotik CRS3xx line and CCR2004 *will* work, but negotiation will need to manually be set to 2.5Gbps. It will not autonegotiate properly at 10Gbps. This is fully expected behavior.Other than that, I get full 2.5Gbps both in and out locally as well as to the Internet on my 2Gbps WAN connection. Working great.
