I have bought 4 of these and in this process I have learned some hard lessons about what the real limits are and this is too flimsy for my need and resulted in more broken props when it bent and went into my prop. Also, don’t attach a lower hydrofoil to it or it’s going to fail even worse…I have a Mercury 115, had a bad day in some river shallows, broke my skeg and this product seemed like a viable solution. Instructions say you need to have at least 2-3” of original skeg left and I do. The problem is that it is just not very strong as it is thin stainless. If you do any kind of river boating where a surprise rock can ruin your day then this isn’t the solution. I have a breakaway jack plate so when I do take calculated

Looks great but will not fit correctly. Huge gap on the end and will not go any higher. Leaving it like this would cause huge drag.

The skeg guard was exactly as described and professionally made. Easy to install (10 minutes) and it added a dressed up look to my merc 4stroke. I love it!

This skeg guard is well constructed, priced right, fits my 90hp Mercury OB perfectly. Suggestion concerning installation…be sure to tap fully into position with a rubber mallet then partially drill your in holes on one side then drill from the other side…alternate until the hole is complete.
