I bought this primarily to de-skin kiwi fruit. It works great, not only for kiwi, but for avocado as well. The scooping end of it tapers to about half the thickness of the main part, making it easy to get between the fruit and the skin.

Not sure if it works better than a basic spoon…but it is a neat idea.
