This handgun case, or pistol rug, has some handy features but also a few limitations. It opens fully flat, which is convenient, and the large zippers are easy to use, even with gloves on. The removable ID patches are a great touch, making it easy to identify which pistol is in the bag, especially if you switch up what you're carrying. However, the padding is very thin, so it doesn’t offer much protection as a standalone case. That said, I use these inside my range bag to keep guns separated, and for that purpose, the thin padding works fine. The thin design also means I can fit more items into a smaller bag, which is a plus for me.The magazine straps make good use of the extra space, but the gun retention strap is poorly designed. It’s short and lands near the trigger guard, but too short to actually secure the gun properly. As a result, the gun slides around in the bag, which can cause it to bump into the magazines. This means you can’t safely store magazines in the bag alongside the gun.Overall, it's useful for storing guns inside a larger range bag, but it’s not practical as a standalone case due to the lack of padding and poor retention.

With 0.3 oz (8g) hook and loop labeling patch included, single carrier bag weighs 3.9 oz (109g). Bag is sized to fit a full-size G17 with up to two (2) additional magazines. Photo shows U.S. Dollar Bill sizing comparison. Lightly padded walls adequately protect fir3arm without substantial bulk. Interior doesn’t shed lint and smooth fabric does not easily attract or retain moisture that might lead to rust/corrosion issues. Double pull loop zippers allow for full opening of the carrier. Single band for storage retention of fir3arm leads to a better fit for a wider range of sizes/models. Inner bands for magazine retention are elasticized with approximately 1 1/2-inches of clearance; permanently tack-sewn into position, they should not interfere with storage of other (optional) items. Provision of additional hook and loop backed labels makes it easy to swap-out and appropriately identify up to three (3) different items. Aggressive attachment means that provided labels won’t easily separate from the carrier. While not overly robust or necessarily being approved by regulatory standards agencies, a padlock could be placed between the nylon pull loops of the carrier to keep small children/unapproved users from easily accessing contents. Carrier has a permanently attached 5 ½-inch wrist loop for use with lightweight contents (not suggested for use when hand carrying heavier weight items/fir3arms).This review is written to fully comply with Amazon Acceptable Community Standards for non-violence.Hope you’ve found these peaceful comments and redacted photos beneficial in your considerations.

I liked the internal retention hook and loop strap for holding the pistol situated in the case, but the strap and mags holders are only sewn into the internal liner, and slide around freely inside the case once stuff it fastened inside. The exterior and interior materials are decent and the zippers are fairly robust, but for about $10 - $12 you can get a better soft case in traditional shape from Cabela's or Voodo Tactical with better padding and zippers... If a tactical soft case with carry handles is desirable; 5.11 makes one from similar materials with a dedicated pocket for the pistol with padding to separate it from any mags or other accessories; provising batter protection for about $15.So for two cases this is a decent deal, but you might opt for more padding if you want better drop protection. These do work for transporting stuff inside my range bag, since they are thin and take up less space, so they will still get use for range day.

They have a trigger guard and padding. Everything is tied down and secured. No more free floating gun is a case or range bag.

These bags are soft while not too soft that it’ll attract moisture, it’s the perfect balance. It’ll store your pistols without trouble and provide enough padding to protect it from small drops. The quality is nice and comes with decals to tag and name it.
