All of my pet brushes of this hand-held style are the silicone massagers, similar to the human shampoo scalp massagers. But not this one. This is an actual brush - YEA! If you are looking for the silicone tips massager brush with a misting ability, this is NOT the massager brush you want. This little gem is more like a "slicker" style of pet brush, with wire prongs. I was surprised to see that is was even shipped with a plastic insert between the removal plate and the brush body to protect the prongs. In our house, we have had 1 cat who is just now letting me use both a slicker-styled, wire brush and a silicone massager brush on her. Just 2-3 swipes as she walk past when I'm working on my laptop. The handle brush she will tend to back up as if it is a threat, while the hand held massager seems not to be a threat. With this cute hand held version (she doesn't care if it is cute or not), I get better brushing done when given the opportunity. With her, no misting at all, but the other cats don't mind a little mist. The hair is easily removed with the push button. Plus, she doesn't appreciate seeing her brushes used on the other cats (my old man is the only exception) so having one outstanding version helps.I see no reason why a cat that is used to a handled slicker brush of this same type would have any issues with this palm style. Unless the person brushing is using more force than they realize, thereby pushing the metal combs into the fur & skin without realizing they are doing so. I have 5 cats, 2 long haired and 3 short haired, and no one seems to have any issues with this brush. Cost is within the realm of a lot of this type but just be sure to order what you are really looking for. Wire prong brush vs silicone massager. My cats are cushy house cats and we have to have both styles.

This does well as a shedding brush but I have had no luck whatsoever in getting my cat to accept being sprayed with essence, maybe that is more for dogs? The best aspect of the brush is that it picks up loose fur in my cat’s thick coat and it’s easy to clean the fur out of the brush with one quick button press! But the whole water spray thing is just not working for my cat, he is not a fan.

Works great and it is easier to brush my Shih Tzu... Water mist lasts a long time.

I used this on my two adult cats. The mist comes out cool and it's powered by battery that you can plug in to charge. It is easy to fill and easy to use. The brush has little plastic nubs on each of the bristles. I didn't have a ton of luck getting much fur out of my cats with it. Even when it was hot in the summer and they were shedding it didn't really seem to grip the fur well. It did serve to cool them down with the mist though. I will say that I was a little disappointed because the ads you see for these brushes look so satisfying.
