The 4 Prong Twist Lock Adapter that I received is a 30A Male Plug to 50Amp Female Receptacle adapter and matches its description. This is a relatively small size adapter that works well with a generator to adapt to a 50amp twist lock RV connector. The L14-30P is a 120/240 30 amp plug and the SS2-50R is a 50 amp RV twist lock receptacle. I didn't find any UL or ETL markings and I don't see any mention of this adapter being certified and therefore I rated the adapter with 2 stars because I don't have anyway to know if the internal construction of the adapter is adequate to handle the 30 amp current from a L14-30P connection.

OK, so this adapter is a little bit of an oddball, but that makes it great. If you should ever need to go from a NEMA L14-50R to a 50A service entrance on an RV (SS2-50P), this is the guy. This has the same connection to the RV (SS2-50R) as your normal power cable, so it will plug right into the RV. It has the plastic threaded locking ring which makes it waterproof. If you have a larger generator, with a NEMA L14-50R output, you can use this adapter to plug into the generator, converting the output to a SS2-50R. Then, a standard SS2-50 power cord could be used to go from the RV to the generator with the adapter installed. OR, if you already had a SS2-50 power cable, you could plug one end into the RV, the other, put the adapter on, then it would you plug into a standard RV power pedestal. On the other end, it gives you a L14-50P with pins sticking out. It's OK, this is safe. Since this is a power input, not an output, there is no exposed voltage there. But it lets you then take a power cord that has a L14-50R on the end (no exposed pins, so it is safe too, even though it DOES have power present, and plug it up to the side of the RV. This gives you the full 50A service to the RV.It is a kinda weird combo, but one worth throwing the adapter in my tub and if/when I need it, I have it.So, I took a couple pics with connector mated to a standard 50A RV inlet from my shop (I am a certified RV tech). It was a tight fit (which you want) and locked in place perfectly. The plastic locking ring was able to tighten down and secure the connection. Easy install. So, I looked at the build of the connector. I am happy to see it fully overmolded all the way from the locking ring to the pins. Does not look cheaply made. Both faces have pins marked as W (neutral), X and Y (each 120V leg) and Ground (which on the RV side is the metal plate on the out ring surface). The ground has a tab to lock it into the connector face, which some are often missing. Pins on the locking connector are copper and appear tightly spaced to provide good conduct.I grabbed a meter and checked continuity for each pin, and also checked that it was not shorted to any of the other pins. W to W, X to X, Y to Y, and Ground. Everything checks out fine. Here's the only catch. Nowhere on the connector, or on the box it came in, are there any indications of this unit ever having been tested by ANY standards organization. I checked the listing and looked at all the info that was there. Again, nothing. I see no reference that it was tested by UL, ETL or CSA. No indication it was designed to any regulation or specs. Hmm.Personally, I will use it and unless I see evidence of issues, I would not think twice. However, as a business owner, specializing in RV repair, I don't think I would ever be willing to sell it to a customer. Just not worth the risk.I think it is still good value for the money, but wish it had been tested an certified. Had it been, it would have been 5-star and I would offer in my shop.

Adapter for a locking 50 amp generator inlet or a larger RV. I have provided photos. The wires are all labeled with appropriate letter labels and ratings. No ETL or UL markings. I prefer ETL or UL listed products. Since this is an emergency tool for most, I don't give it one star for that, but 4.

RV’ers know the importance of redundancy as anything that can go wrong eventually will. That’s why we have extra hoses, filters, backups for power jacks, etc… but as weight is also important, there is a limit to how much redundant stuff we can bring. It always bothered me that, while we have multiple extension cords (50 amp, 30 amp, 15 amp, ….) we only have one cord that has the special connector necessary to power the RV. We have many adapters to connect that 50 amp cable to just about anything else, but only one way to actually power the RV. This connector enables us to use one of those extension cords to power the rv if our main cable was damaged or even if we had a very short run from the RV to the power stand and didn’t want to bring out our 25 foot cable (which is so difficult to bend in the severe cold).Since it’s just a short connector, it adds minimal weight to the RV and, with the 2 15 foot 50 amp extension cords we already carry (since some sites have amazingly inconvenient electrical connections). The blades are in the right orientation that an extension cord or surge suppressor will hang down nicely and the twist ring connector holds it firmly to the RV.

Great adapter for unique connection situation requirementsFemale 50 amp generaror inlet to Male 30 amp locking extension cord adapter. receptacle adapter plugMolded plug and receptacle ends are easy to grip, makes a secure connection and the adapter featured here allows you to connect a 30 amp 4 wire round plug into a 50 amp SS2-50P gererator inlet receptacle. This is especially convenient when you need to plug your Generator 30A extension cord into a power inlet wired into your home or camper. great for connecting power source or a generator that doesnt have the right plug size and your plug types don't match.
