Shop fan review – I am giving the shop fan a very good review as you cannot beat the build quality and performance for the price. Yes it has some strategically placed plastic and some of the metal is thinner walled than you would expect but not at that price point. I think the design team did a really good job of identifying where they could sacrifice some strength for weight as these have to be shipped from China and in order to keep the price point down, including the price of shipping some sacrifices have to be made. The most important thing is the motor, it is quiet and strong, which is what you really need in a shop environment. You could buy two or three of these for a shop and still pay less than a large metal fan, great purchase.

This 20 inch fan is built quite well. Everything is made of metal, save for a couple of plastic parts where it’s appropriate.Assembly of this fan is very straightforward and simple, and shouldn’t take more than five minutes to put together. The base is nice and heavy and should definitely prevent any accidental tipping. Adjusting the fans height is a standard adjustment of the twist on the pole that locks and unlocks the sliding metal rod that is common on this type of fan.I will say that when I receive this fan, the box was in very poor shape. It was beaten and battered and punctured in a couple of spots, yet the fan suffered no visible damage. One thing to note is that the oscillating feature does not work quite right And sounds like there might be a slipping gear involved. I have no doubt that the oscillating flaw was caused by the rough treatment of the box while in transit, which was not Amazon by the way.The fan certainly moves a lot of air and is relatively quiet when compared to other fans that move this volume of air. I would definitely recommend it and won’t count off the dysfunction of the oscillating feature.

A powerful stand-up fan. The fan does a great job of circulating air in a large room; using it in my garage space for better ventilation. Unit has three speeds, can be fixed or oscillates, and offers height adjustability. Build quality and material of fan and fan housing is good, but the single post stand design, height adjustment, and fan's mounting bracket design could be improved for better durability and strength. Thnx!

First, the major complaint. It seems, as with most imported good,s finding a means of reducing package size and weight, so as to maximize units that can be placed in a ocean container, and keep overall weight down is understandably a major consideration. I believe that this fan was perhaps designed with that end in mind, from the inside out, as for the type of motor used, the fan is extremely short; that aspect may also be related to the size of the weight in the base.As to the motor, it is a quality, almost silent running, UL listed, ball bearing equipped, with 3 speeds, and a integral ossilating mechanism which cam be disengaged. The fan blade itself is metal painted in a bright chrome yellow, which looks pretty good to boot. The 2 piece fan cage is appropriate as to sturdiness, and has a nice black powdercoat finish. The mounting knuckle which provides a connection to the main tube, and which is attached to the motor, is plastic, and would surely be broken if the fan were knocked over. This is perhaps another factor related to the short tube length, and by extension, the weight of the counterweight in the base. The main vertical tube has a central telescoping chrome tube that is very thin wall, again another likely candidate for damage should the fan be knocked down. The larger, lower portion of the tube is a powder coated steel of a slightly larger diameter and wall thickness. The bottom of the tube where it fits into the base could be better executed both as relates to assembly, and fit. This tube is secured to the base from underneath via a "L" bolt, so no tools are required. The tube is without question too short. So if one wanted to execute some fixes, the tube, with some imagination, could be lengthened, and that would of course require rigging some type of additional weights in the base. Is it worth it? In my case I can and will, make those modifications, but that is only because I received this unit to evaluate. IF I had purchased it, iam uncertain, as I have not shopped for comparable units.I would advise making sure that this unit is adequate for you as regards height, and that it is a price wise purchase as relates to similar products. In balance this fan is far in excess as to quality overall, than you would find in a discount store fan, the main point in it's favor being the (1/8 HP? -spec not shown.) motor which would likely run for extended periods with no trouble
