3M Temflex 1700 vinyl electrical tape is a quality, economical general purpose vinyl insulating tape. It has excellent resistance to abrasion, moisture, alkalis, acid, copper corrosion and varying weather conditions. It is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tape that has a high wet dielectric strength, is flame retardant and conformable, and provides excellent mechanical protection with minimum bulk.

3M products have always worked well. There is always a chance you could have saved money on cheaper tape but when you go too cheap, you lose all of you money.

Do yourself a favor and stop buying cheap electrical tape. For an extra buck, get tape that sticks.

Not sure if it's the original 3M but it gets as close as possible. Sticky, quite thick, good value for money. Very easy to use.

I want to mention that the tape is decent and does an okay job at sticking things together. Unfortunately, it isn't strong enough for my liking and sometimes the adhesion is extremely weak after one contact.
