Need some QC. The one I got both the tumbler I had to file some area down so the tumbler can turn in the shell. Some the slot for the lock plate was to tight and needed to file so the lock plate can slide smoothly. After I got all that done it was easy to put together. Just make sure to have some tape and some small files if needed.

I was going to give this a try, it was easy to assemble I would say that. However the tumbler is not cut properly as you can see in my photo when I was putting in the plates I had to press down on them because it had metal in the way. I was going to finish up the passenger side and the keyhole will NOT fit in the tumbler. Somehow the tumbler keyhole is either too small, or the keyhole is too big, no matter how hard I tried to press it down, it wouldn’t fit. Also the inner key over gets in the way, as you can see after inserting the key it will not properly close the hole, it stays open.

My son just bought his first car - a 2003 civic. The key cylinder was totally missing and we found this kit so we thought we would give it a try. It took us about two hours to decode the key and code the cylinder for his existing key. It wouldn't have taken as long if we had started out using masking tape to tape down each piece as we went - trust me you want to do this. Start from the far end and work your way to the key hole, don't try to do all the D first then all the d next or you will end up having it all fall out and you have to start over lol. Write down your code as you go in case you need it again. The kit comes with all the pieces but I recommend you have a pick, masking tape, tweezers, and silicone lubricant too. The kit has both drivers and passengers side which was a nice surprise to us.My son and I had a somewhat fun bonding time putting together the puzzle and now that it's done he can't wait to install it in his car door!UPDATE: not sure if it is this after market cylinder or the after market door handle we bought to replace the broken door handle BUT it took a large amount of force to fit the cylinder into it's place on the door handle. My son (who lifts weights and is very strong) managed to press it in between his two hands but it took all of his force and he was afraid he might break the handle. There is NO WAY you can install this cylinder into the after market door handle if the door handle is already installed in the car, at least not in our experience. No idea if this would be different with an OEM door handle. Once it was installed we are very happy with it, it works perfectly with the original key.

My Honda Odyssey suffered from a common Honda problem of key getting stuck or not working in ignition.Although this kit is for the door locks it uses the same wafer tumblers as the ignition switch.Wafers are coded so just replace old ones, that will probably be bent or broken, with the new ones in this kit and you're good to go.There are good videos on YouTube showing how to remove the lock which are a great help. The job is a bit fiddly so not for the faint of heart but will save you hundreds of dollars.

Kit is missing the Y4 and Y3 pins. These are the round single pins that go into slot A. Not essential because to be honest if you are doing this you have an old car worth nothing and can just skip the pins.I bought this because I needed it quicker then directly from china and I was concerned that the core and other non pin parts of the original locks would need to replaced once I got the locks apart.Little to no use of the spare blank because again who is going to bother spending money getting a key cut when DIYing this.
