Works great for my situation where my door moves up and down due to settling and weather. It gives me flexibility for being able to latch or lock my doors in that one area of my house. The only drawback is that it comes only in one finish, but then again, it can be painted if you really needed to make it match your other hardware.

Unfortunately, I thought these door strikes were shorter than they were. So I can't use them. There's nothing wrong with them. I just didn't measure properly.BTW, they don't come with screws. I knew that when I bought them but just want others to be aware if they purchase them.

My bedroom door will pop open in the middle of the night due to the temperature change and our constantly shifting foundation. I tried shifting the normal strike plate up and down, but the door position changes so dramatically during the night that I wasn't able to find a position that would allow me to shut the door both day and night. This solved my problems!!

I have an old house and an old detached office building and I have to wrestle with shifting foundations all the time. I've reframed doors repeatedly and then found these. Wonderful alternative when your house shifts one way and then another by just a little and you want your doors to keep latching throughout the seasons.

They are ideal for fixing doors that sag occasionally and the latch will not engage the conventional striker plate. These work great for that.

If you ignore the blobs of spray foam in the pics, you can see the nice fit and finish of the strike plates, as well as the thickness. Be careful--the single "4 7/8" plate my husband originally ordered (from elsewhere) was a FULL INCH too short, didn't have the long open slot, and was only as thick as a fingernail. This one's quality.
