EGO has made the world's worst shear pin. You need a tool at both ends to do the nut (and I didn't have a hex key and a socket set handy in the field when I broke a pin -- um, who would? Machine came with onboard pins but not onboard tools to install.) And even if I had the right size hex or square end and socket, there's hardly room to maneuver hands and tools at both ends at the same time between the blades to get that nut on tight. I ended up hand tightening and wrapping over with electrical tape a few times to keep the nut from backing off. SUCH a stupid design (because every wants a pocket full of tools and taking their gloves off in cold weather to replace....) EGO customer service has no idea of the shear strength of the pin, and (of course) cannot recommend a normal pin (with a hole and cotter pin at one end) from another manufacturer. Pray you don't break a pin, New EGO owner.
