I ordered these connectors to make a charging cable for a power bank. They are made of heavy duty plastic and have thick rubber covers that fit snugly and seal out dirt and dust. The lugs crimped on well and seat tightly in the connectors. They are working great and I have ordered another set.

The lugs that come with these will fit a 6AWG wire. I used these for the power wire in a car amp so I could quickly remove the amp when needed. I thought my 4AWG power cable would be slightly undersized and fit in this, but it didn't. I just pushed some of the copper strands to the side, filled the lug with as much copper as I could and then crimped it down with a hammer crimper. I then draped the strands I couldn't fit inside around the lug and used heat shrink to press the loose strands onto the outside of the lug while also covering the power cable, making it tidy. The lugs then press into the plastic body where a metal spring leaf locks it into place against a small step. It doesn't come with any instructions but if you examine the pieces, you'll figure it out. Once it's locked, it's pretty secure. I had to remove it a couple times to route the cable through tight spaces, and while not easy, can be done with using a small screwdriver to push down on the leaf spring to release the lug. When two pieces are mated together, it locks with a nice click. Removal isn't too difficult if you wiggle the connectors instead of just trying to pull straight out.The silicone cap on this fits nice and snug, which is important if you plan to ever have this not connected to anything. This was my first time using this type of connector, and it was a pretty good experience. I saw that some other reviewers stated that it fit other Anderson connectors and clones, but this did not fit another set of clones that I had ordered - they looked identical but the middle of the connector was different heights and would not mate. This was fine for my use because I actually don't want them to fit to the other connector since this one is being used for power and the other is a speaker connector.Overall, really nothing to complain about. So far, they're working great.

One of the useful features of the Anderson SB-50 connectors is the fact that with very limited exceptions, they will mate only with housing of the same color. Some reviewers are not aware that the incompatibility IS intentional and is a feature and not a defect to be overcome. The crimp terminals (even for different wire sizes) are standard across SB-50 the making it easy to swap out housing. However, as discussed below one needs to use genuine Anderson terminals with genuine Anderson housings. Similarly, only clone crimp terminals seem to work properly with clone housings.Since I have both 12 and 24 volt battery chargers, that came with SB-50 clone connectors, I wanted to use this feature to prevent connecting the wrong charger to the wrong battery. Initially, I bought some genuine Anderson colored housings to replace the gray ones that came on both of the chargers. Unfortunately, it turned out the crimp terminals are not interchangeable between the genuine and clone housings. They appear to fit but don’t properly lock into place. When I ran across these red SB-50 clone connectors, I ordered them to see whether the housings were compatible with the crimp terminals on the (gray) clone connectors supplied with the chargers and cables. Indeed they are and I was able to release the wires and terminals from the original gray housing and reinstall them in the red housings. They fit perfectly and my problem was solved. I now have gray connectors on my 12 volt chargers and cables and red ones on the 24 volt setup. The swap also leaves me with some spare gray housings and crimp terminals that I can use to make up additional 12 volt cables. For my purposes, these clone SB-50 housings and terminals get 5 stars and I’ve ordered more.

This SB-50 compatible quick connect/disconnect set is a reliable and convenient solution for my high-power electrical connections. As someone who frequently works with power equipment, I appreciate the robust design and ease of use these Anderson SB-50 compatible connectors offer. The Anderson-style "genderless" design is a major advantage, eliminating the hassle of dealing with male and female ends. While I've used solder in the past, investing in a hydraulic crimper has significantly streamlined the installation process. These connectors are fully compatible with Anderson SB-50 grey connectors, providing flexibility in my projects. It's crucial to note that these connectors are color-coded and keyed for safety, ensuring that only matching colors can be connected. However, I found it straightforward to modify the red connectors with a utility knife to make them compatible with the grey ones if needed. While the product description states compatibility with 6-12 AWG wires, the included connectors appear to be the 6-8 AWG size. There are additional inserts available that are a better fit for 10-12 AWG wires.I also love the Anderson Powerpole connectors that are very similar but more compact. They are something to consider if you don't need anywhere near the 50A these can handle. I've started switching to SB50 for anything over 25 amps as I've found the Powerpole connectors can start getting a bit warm and don't have as secure of a connection.Overall, I'm highly satisfied with the performance and versatility of these connectors. The durable construction, ease of installation, and compatibility with Anderson SB-50 connectors make them an excellent choice for various applications, including power equipment, winches, and solar setups.
