Rope it comes with to hang is about as thick as a shoe lace.

These hay nets are WAY better than I expected them to be and we're a steal at $5/each. I really expected these to be cheap, flimsy, something my horses will tear up in a day, but they're quite a bit more heavy duty and I am very pleased with them! They aren't huge and will only hold about 4-5 flakes, but that's usually enough to keep my thoroughbreds happy in their stalls during the day
