These brackets are strong and the 4X4 has a nice fit in them which would make them easy to calk the post in and keep water out. There are plenty of holes to solidly mount them to the deck and mount the post to them solidly. I look forward to using them this spring.

I got these post bases to support posts for a new railing for our front porch. The quality is very good, made of thick metal with a generous coat of powder coating. Installation was very simple, just screw them in place! They look really nice and professional.They have pretty tight tolerances, providing a snug fit. I originally fit-tested then on an old 4x4 post outside, and they did not fit over the end of the post. However, they fit fine over new 4x4 posts. The old one has been outside in the elements for years, and has slightly expanded as a result.
