I got this to test the Total Dissolved Solids in our city tap water and then compare that to what our Berkey water filter produces. This tool is very helpful for testing water stats so if you’re the type of person who loves to have real numbers to know what’s going on with your water, it’s a pretty easy decision to give it a try.

Finally, a digital water testing probe that provides accurate information. It seems like it's very difficult to find a digital water test probe that provides accurate information. I am happy to say that this Yewhick pH and TDS Meter does just that. It provides accurate data. I have tested this meter against laboratory grade calibration fluids, as well as chemical based testing kits,this tester runs right with them. I would like to point out, this is straight out of the box calibration from the factory. I have a fairly large saltwater pool and require accurate information to keep up the water quality. I'm glad I found this. If you are looking for a digital water test probe that provides all the features that this one provides, I can highly recommend it.

Pretty neat little gizmo that measures quite a few things. I have another TDS only meter and the numbers presented by each are within a few percentage points of each other. Comes pre calibrated out of the box but has recalibration kit of chemicals if you feel the need one day. Turn on, insert into water, let it stay until the number stabilizes (stops dropping). It is as simple as that.

The good:Nice alternative to test strips for ph testing your pool. You have to get PH right before you should try to adjust chlorine, etc. Tested this meter from a sample of pool water collected in a measuring cup, against my ph chemical test and it looks pretty accurate. The other bonus is the TDS/hardness that is temperature compensated. If you test your pool water with a testing strip when the water is very cold, you will get very low readings because it's not temperature adjusted. This device tests for hardness and automatically adjust for water temperature, unlike the testing strips. No more heating up water to 70+F to get accurate readings from strips or chemicals, or have to use a decoder wheel to calculate. This device is worth it for this.The bad:None so far. It is a little annoying that it takes a little time for the ph reading to finally settle, but it doesn't take anymore time than waiting on a testing strip.Other thoughts:I'm going to update my review also after testing store brand distilled water for hardness, ph, conductivity, etc.
