My wife and I are renovating an old house we have a ton of sanding to do. These discs are working well so far and I love that I could just get a variety pack. This isn't the absolute cheapest sandpaper we've bought but it's still a really good deal and much cheaper than the big box stores.

I needed some fine (P400) grit sanding disks for my random orbital sander, and these are working just perfectly. So far, they seem to have a reasonably good working life, and don't clog up badly when sanding down a finish layer between coats. They are a good value for their price, and I'm quite happy to be using them.

Normally, I use 120/150 and 220 grit sanding discs for my woodworking projects. This assortment pack is a terrific value, even though I probably won't be using the coarser 60 and 80 grits. Having 10 pieces of 120, 220 and 320 ensures that I won't run short while working on a project. Although I'd prefer to have some 150 grit discs, the 120 grit should work for me. The discs fit my Dewalt random orbital sander, with all holes lining up perfectly. The description says that these are aluminum oxide discs, but there's no A/O marking on the back of each disc that's normally found next to the grit number. Not an issue, but just a small difference from my other discs. One thing that I've noticed with the brand name discs I've been using for years is that when stored on the sander in a hot garage, the disc tends to de-laminate from the hook and loop layer when removing the disc to change grits. I don't know if these will be any different, only time will tell. So far, I'm impressed with the value these discs provide.

This random orbit sandpaper has grits composed of aluminum oxide (Al2O3), also known as alumina, and what I am assuming is ceramic alumina (often simply called "ceramic" in abrasive products). It claims to be able to last three times as long as other types of abrasives - which I believe, but that is because of the ceramic alumina which covers at a cost. That kind of abrasive is often used for polishing metals, and can leave a very pronounced scratch pattern on wood. This is because it is a very hard material and is not very friable. Abrasives tend to break down during normal use so that paper that starts out at 120 grit, for example, starts to sand a little bit finer as the grit wears away. This is usually a good thing because it gets you ready for the next grit. Having the ceramic mixed in may lead to less desirable surface finishes if you aren't careful.I picked up the variety pack as I have a project coming up that will let me do a side-by-side comparison with this paper and one that is strictly aluminum oxide. I am looking forward to doing an A/B test. From usability standpoint, the paper is thick enough and the backing sticks to my various sanders just fine. After a brief use today, I still suspect that what I mentioned above is going to be some amount of a factor going forward. If I was to make a suggestion, it would probably be to use these types of mixed abrasives for lower grits (below 120) and to switch to a more friable abrasive for hire grits (120 and up). The nice thing is that the cost of this paper (at present) is very affordable so we can tinker around a little bit!

SUPBICCO 50 PCS 5 Inch 8 Hole Sanding Discs, Hook and Loop 60 80 120 220 320 Assorted Grits Gold Sandpaper Pads for Random Orbital Sander (Mixed Grits,50-Pack)SUPBICCO 50 PCS 5 Inch 8 Hole Sanding Discs, Hook and Loop 60 80 120 220 320 Assorted Grits Gold Sandpaper Pads for Random Orbital Sander (Mixed Grits,50-Pack)I’ve been buying 5 inch 8 hole hook and loop sanding discs from HF for many years. The old brand was Warrior, but I believe they have replaced those with Bauer now. They come in a 3 pack for $4. They also sell a 50 pack for $15, but only in one grit with a choice of 40 through 220. This set is a 50 pack with 10 each of 60, 80, 120, 220, and 320 grit. As I write this the price is $7.59 through Amazon. The hook and loop on this set works very well and holds the discs in place. I feel like the two different brands last equally long and do a good job of taking down material. The Bauer brand doesn’t have holes so it loads up a little faster. I think that this is an excellent product and an excellent price/value. I am very pleased with this purchase and plan to buy more in the future.
