I bought this kit to make my own modified cases for the Hornady OAL Guage. It works perfect. I've made cases for several different calibers and I just bought a second set for a reloading buddy. The drill and tap are a perfect pairing for this purpose. If that's why you are buying these, I would recommend using a collet and a collet holder to secure the case while you drill and tap it.

I used this set to drill and tap fired brass casings, to make my own custom casings for a Hornady case length gauge. Worked great, drilled an tapped with absolutely no slop.

Both drill bit and tap arrived in hard plastic cases preventing damage and providing storage. Items are sharp and worked as expected. I would purchase again if needed.

I use this to make my own CBTO cases from once fire brass. Once fired gives me a better Reference to determine headspace instead of the store bought case which is generic to chambers. This allows me to make my own to fit my chambers.

The 7.3 mm drill bit is oversized for the thread tap. This results in a very poor and shallow thread. I ended up using a 9/32 drill bit which has a 7.1mm size to do the job.I was using the tap to make a modified cartridge for the Hornady OAL gauge so this means threading into brass. It is easy to jam the tap if you do not back it up to dislodge the cut thread material. Use a copious amount of thread cutting oil. I could see that it would be quite easy to break the tap if it was forced to cut more. Each cut I made was 1/8th of a revolution or less.Hope you find this useful.

Its nice to get a drill and die set together. You don't have to guess what drill bit will be the correct size for your particular die. This set is a quality set, the drill bet is sharp and as I will be using it exclusively on copper, it should last a long time. The die was precisely machined to impart the correct pitch and number of threads it is designed for.Already in use, it works great and I am a happy purchaser.

Would have been nice if the wrench end was center drilled for use in a centering jig for a drill. Got around that by chucking the tap in a drill press and making a jig for the part I was tapping, then hand turning the chuck. It cut and preformed great and seemed to be a quality tap. It cut the brass easily and cleared the chips nicely.
