Time-delay automotive cartridge fuses are female standard fuses that provide a low voltage drop for protecting high-current circuits. Also called JCASE fuses, these slow-blow cartridge fuses tolerate temporary inrush currents without opening, which prevents nuisance-blowing from motor and equipment startups. They open to disconnect an electrical circuit when exposed to sustained loads and short circuits.
Automotive cartridge fuses are rectangular fuses for protecting vehicle wiring harnesses against overcurrent. They're generally used in higher-voltage applications (up to 32VDC) than automotive blade fuses. They have a plastic housing that's color-coded by amperage rating to help prevent installation of a mismatched fuse.
