I had an OLD 4.5 angle grinder. I think it is a Makita but it is quite ugly and missing the tag/name. But it refuses to just lay down and die and lately I have been using it for more than just a motor for a wire cup wheel. So I really needed a guard for cut off wheels especially. Those darn things bind up and explode even wen you are doing your best NOT to damage them. I looked all over my old garage were we are moving from the last time I was up north and couldn't find the original guard to save my life. Meh, I took the thing off about 2 decades ago so I'm not really surprised. Anyhow, it just so happens that when I needed the new guard, I was offered one on the VINE program. And while it is not the most stylish thing, it is very functional and is made strong enough that I don't fear losing a finger, or worse if I mess up and make a wheel explode. I am positive this replacement guard will stop even a standard, thick wheel without any problem. Simple, basic and sturdy, 5 stars!

I have been wanting to modify my original guard to do exactly what this does. It is perfect for quickly changing the angle of the guard to deflect sparks away or to allow for better blade or grinding disk clearance. The quick-release lever is a great time saver- sure beats having to break out a screwdriver every time the guard needs re-positioning. Great improvement over the old guard, recommended.

Needed a guard for my DeWalt grinder to prevent spraying fire everywhere. Works as it should.

Was concerned the guard would only fit a Dewalt, especially when it took a few attempts to get it snapped in place. Loosining quick clamp lever screw was a must for the fit.
