Anyone who has worked with any kind of linear motion equipment knows that it is very easy to cut corners and make a bad product. That said, I'm constantly surprised how good these cheap rails and blocks can end up being, which is fantastic for hobbyists and makers. The rail arrived straight despite being shipped a bit loose in it's box. But that box was in another shipping box, so it worked out okay.The motion is smooth, though it might not work to replace the rail on my laser cutter as it's pretty small. So make sure you take good measurements because I thought it would be a larger rail. I have a friend who does various automation projects, so I think I'll see what he can come up with, or if he thinks it might suffice in holding the laser cutter's final mirror and lens.

The linear rail arrived very straight with no twists or bend to it. there are no burrs and the added clips at the end of the rail to keep the bearing block from slipping off is great.Just taking a few rough measurements, the rail's dimensions appear to have no taper, and are uniform along the length.Couldn't be happier.
