This kit has everything you need to get started on your matcha journey, besides the matcha itself. Make sure to get a high quality ceremonial grade matcha if you want tea that tastes great, and look up techniques on YouTube to get a perfect frothy brew. The chasen is made from bamboo, and makes perfect foam. The matching ceramic chawan and chasen-yasume are beautiful, with a nice weight to both. The chawan has a convenient pour spout and the yasume is the perfect size for the chasen. It also comes with a small sieve, a silk mat, and a bamboo chashaku for scooping. This is a fantastic set that makes excellent matcha every time, and would make a lovely gift.

This is such a beautiful set! The green of the bowl and cup is so much prettier than in the pictures. The added sifter/strainer is a plus, you need to sift your tea into the bowl so that it blends easier and better. My only (small) complaint is that that step isn't mentioned on the instructions on the back of the box, however, if you already drink matcha you know to do this and people new to matcha have probably already looked up the info on how to make it on the internet. I like the plastic container the whisk came packed in, I might keep it for storing the whisk so it doesn't get damaged.
