I am installing a stairway wooden hand rail behind a mechanical stairway chair. This bracket will allow me to cut to the correct width to fit behind the stairway chair. When a chair like this is installed the handrails are removed. For safety purposes I plan to keep the handrails on both sides for when the chair is not in use. These brackets will allow me to do just that.

I wanted a low-profile bracket that would practically disappear. These did the trick, however, a few considerations:- because they go straight from the rail to the wall, when you wrap your hand around the rail and slide it along, you may hit the brackets with your fingers- they do not come with screws or other hardwareBut I still think they’re perfect.

These black stair handrail brackets appear to be sturdy and durable in looks and in use. The setcomes with 8 brackets, which is a good amount for spacing and sturdiness. I used a stud finderto first see where the strength would lie along the stairwell wall. I made sure 3 of them werealigned with a stud behind the drywall. I also used longer screws in the studs. The otherbrackets, I used drywall anchors in hopes they will be supported as needed and not workthemselves out of the wall. The brackets look expensive and bold with a nice wood grain railingattached to them.

A very modern and simplistic design for these handrail brackets. Will work wonderfully with a flat-bottomed handrail. That these brackets don't include screws is a blessing! The sad fact that the majority of Chinese screws aren't worth the metal they're made from, leaves us to procure some from a more reliable source. This could save a handrail from failing when being used intensely!Overall, a decent product at a price that I couldn't match if making them myself. 5 stars for now...

They look nice, but there's a tendency to pinch your hand often, if you grab the rail near the hardware. It can be more than an itch & potential deal breaker for someone with kids or the elderly. I wrapped mine with tennis racket grip tape, which improved it. However, after less than six months, one of the rail supports sheard off completely & all but 1 of the 8 brackets were bent. I'm am average size & live in a one person household. Anyway, replaced all 8 brackets with heavy solid iron ones that look just as nice for about 30% more. You get the picture.
