Tip end is high quality. Pole will take more time, seems about same quality as others I purchase at Home Depot.

This telescoping pole is a very useful tool to have at the ready on the pontoon. Easy to stow when collapsed, light weight and can quickly be stretched out to full length. Useful for plucking anything out of the water or at least pulling it towards the boat. As well as helping to guide the boat into dock or onto the trailer, it is the perfect multipurpose tool for any boat. The only draw back I see is the price. Anything recreational in purpose seems to draw a higher price and this is no exception. It is a well made item and aluminum isn't a cheap material, so the cost is still within reason. It is mainly the usefulness of the pole that brings me to recommend purchasing one, they are a very handy item to have at your disposal.

In our experience, what always wears out on telescoping boat hooks/boat cover poles and the like is the joints on the telescoping parts. Right now this feels very very solid, and we’re thrilled with the metal to metal attachment point of the hook to the pole. My husband screwed it on after I did and I’m quite sure I’ll never be able to remove it. It’s nice to have a dedicated boat hook— we used to alternate our boat scrub brush and our hook on the same telescoping handle. Now no more flip flopping, and it fits fine in the cargo hold of our pontoon boat. Time will tell how the telescoping joints hold up and exactly how much force they will tolerate, and everything else is a definite five star. I just changed my review from four stars to five because I realized it’s not fair to prejudge this based on the lifespan of other boat implements! If this dies prematurely, I’ll update my review. As a new item, it’s five stars for sure.
