I have one small raised bed that I wanted to really focus on this year. I thought if I ordered something like this, I could really dial down into the soil for a good crop. My biggest issue is that it seems to only work half the time. I’ve used it in the same spot and have gotten vastly different readings…or no readings at all. The app is easy enough to install and use, but the iffy readings made it kinda useless. I also can’t recommend this for your average beginner gardener. There is also a bunch of packets of maybe cleaner? Or some other purpose…but no directions on how or why you would use them. This thing is already sitting on a shelf.

Horrible instructions that warn against rain damage, so not useful for long-term garden sensing. Returning it without trying.

I purchased this soil tester with the hope of monitoring the soil conditions for my houseplants, but unfortunately, the experience has been far from what I expected.Pros:Basic Functionality: The tester has the potential to work well once it's set up correctly. The idea of testing pH, moisture, and light is great, and I can see how it would be useful if you can get it to function properly.Cons:Long Delivery Time: First of all, it took an extremely long time for this item to arrive. This was a bit frustrating as I was eager to start using it for my plants.Unclear and Poorly Written Instructions: The biggest issue with this product is the instruction manual. It’s poorly written, with awkward grammar and vague explanations. I didn’t expect to need to decipher such unclear instructions just to test my soil. For someone who isn’t extremely tech-savvy, this was a huge roadblock.Unnecessary Calibration: I was shocked to discover that the device requires calibration right out of the box. There were three sets of powder packets included for this purpose, but I really don’t understand why a basic soil tester needs calibration. If calibration is necessary, it should have been made clear upfront in the product description. Instead, it was an unexpected and confusing step that made the process more complicated than it needed to be.Missing Information on Calibration Codes: To make matters worse, the manual refers to certain codes needed to run tests, but none of the calibration packets included had the codes mentioned in the manual. This left me completely baffled. The lack of clear and complete instructions made it difficult to even figure out how to start the testing process.Overall Opinion:While this soil tester might work for someone with more advanced knowledge of these devices, it was far too complicated for me. I was hoping for a simple tool to monitor my houseplants’ soil, but instead, I got a frustrating experience with unclear instructions and unnecessary steps. If you’re comfortable with tech gadgets and don’t mind struggling through incomplete and confusing instructions, this product might work for you. However, if you're looking for something straightforward, I would not recommend this device.

Alright. This guy has so much promise. But the app....needs help. It has only one button on it. So all you can really do is turn it on. There is a flashing red light, and that's it. So the instructions are super important (or the videos on the amazon page). We installed the app, which is pretty bare bones, not super intuitive, and feels a little bit like spyware on two phones (a pixel and a galaxy). Neither of us could get it to connect. We could sometimes see it on the list of Bluetooth devices but it would disappear and not connect. Dug around the internet and saw that it seems to work better for iPhones. That doesn't help much. Our only guess was that it came with dead batteries. So the last thing to try was new batteries. A few days later I hadn't gotten around to batteries yet but I casually popped open the app and turned on the device and it connected instantly (well, 5 seconds). No idea what had changed. Tried the other phone and found the location services were disabled (turns out that hint is in the videos but not the instructions that came with it). So, it does work with android! be patient! It should work better....my best guess is it has some secret update or something that has to install before it works...very strange. As for accuracy...we'll get to that over the next while as we test it in many places. The things I could verify easily (light, temperature, water content) appeared accurate. But the thing is useless without the app. It has a thicker probe than others I've seen, but isn't necessarily more robust. Just thicker. Must be for all the features on it.

I was able to connect to the meter just fine right out of the box using both Android and Apple devices (separately). Once calibrated my daughter was off to find out what it would tell her about her plants. Simple. It's been a couple of months, now, and my daughter's garden is flourishing even better than before. She's been able to tailor watering schedules and amounts, adjust pH, and reformulate her various pots and beds with more suitable soil blends. She absolutely loves it, and I love the results!

Works great right out of the box. It comes with instructions to use their app. The box had some powder packets to make calibration solution. Seems pretty accurate and informative so far. I think this will be a useful tool for a healthier garden. Seems pretty sturdy, I think it should last no problem with minimal care

The only user interface for this meter is via Bluetooth, and you need an Apple or Android device. When I first got this, the Android app was unable to connect to the meter. The Apple app was able to connect, but I only have an iPad, which isn't convenient. But, after connecting to the iPad, and installing a phone software update, the Android app now connects, which was my problem earlier. I have changed my review accordingly. If you have problems with Android, try connecting with an Apple device, and it might start working. I have no idea what fixed it, but it's working now, and I may have found where my pool is leaking, which was the original reason I bought the meter.
