Twice I tried using it, even after reading all the directions and it boiled over even though I didn’t even fill it up to the fill line. I returned this item.

We use our urn for hot water throughout the week, including on Shabbat. I bought a top-of-the-line West Bend urn and the spring-loaded valve started leaking all over my counter after 1.5 yrs. We use only RO water so the inside still looked like brand new. There was no way to service or replace the valve or any of the internal components so I had to discard it. It was also very slow to sense the addition of cold water when refilling and there was no "Boil" button. Our new Omosiroi urn has a spigot type valve that appears to be replaceable (as is the heating element) but it does not drip at all. The spigot projects out a couple of inches so it's easy to fill tall 12 oz. insulated cups. The volume is actually about 7.5 qts, but that's not a problem for us. Not mentioned in the literature is that the temperatue control has a "Max" setting that bypasses the thermostat. It moves to that setting with an audible "click" when the control is moved full clockwise. I filled the urn with water, plugged it in and set it to Max. It heated to a boil very quickly... but then continued to boil furiously, ejecting water all over the counter. Not sure what purpose that setting might serve, but I won't be using it! The thermostat is otherwise very sensitive so that heat element cycles on/off every couple of minutes. This keeps the water at precisely the selected temperature. The insulated wall works well to keep the pot reasonably cool. We use the top of the pot as a Shabbat food warmer, so we removed the huge handle. Not a problem since the side handles work fine when refilling the pot. Also, without the handle, a small hand towel can be used to insulate the top surface which otherwise gets quite hot. So far, no complaints. *Update: Dispensing spigot gets too hot for comfort; I'd recommend employing an insulated handle.UPDATE: Started leaking from botton after 1 month - had to return it.
