This has been a great purchase for my student. It made holding her 3/4 violin so much easier.

I have purchased two of these for two different violins. For the first one, I had to trim a bit off the outer edge of the cork pads for it to fit properly. For the second one (shown in the photos), I had to shim the cork pads with another layer of cork (about 1 mm thick). But in both cases, the chin rests fit well, with ample clearance over the tail piece. These rests are very well made. I can tell you that the two that I have are made of ebony, and they are not painted or stained wood. And for me, these rests are very comfortable. (Of course, everyone is different. What is comfortable for me may not be comfortable for you.) They are a bit taller than other rests that I have used, and I like that this style rest has a large surface area. I also like how the rest clamps in the bottom middle of the violin over the bottom block that is inside the violin.

When i first got the shoulder rest, it didn't really fit my violin (due to the high angle of the neck). At first, it felt like it was always gonna slip off my neck, but after a few days, I got comfortable with it. The reason i got this shoulder rest is because my old shoulder rest gave me a bruise. This solved my problem and is never irritating my skin. Good product!

This chinrest did not come as advertised. It is not made of ebony, it’s stained wood made to look like ebony, like another reviewer said. It also did not fit over my tailpiece - the arch underneath was much too small.I ordered the same chinrest from Shar, and this one was made from ebony and fit over my tailpiece perfectly.

Good quality chin rest delivered quickly. Smaller than most Guarnerie rests but well made and comfortable.

I really like this chinrest but I had to do a lot of modification to make it clear my tailpiece. It did not fit over the tailpiece of either of my violins so I had to carve out a lot underneath with a rotary tool and then glue extra cork on the feet to make it even taller. It's a nice and pretty chinrest and I am now happy with it but I just wish the design had been made with the feet just a few more millimeters taller to begin with. It seems other people also have the same problem with this style of chinrest.

This is a great chin rest. I love it and makes playing so much more comfortable.

Very comfortable compared to the side mounted Guarneri style. It has a deeper "cup" so it almost hooks onto your chin, making it less-stressful to hold on to the instrument.I had one issue that may dissuade some of you: I had to file a significant amount of material from the underside of the device to prevent it contacting the tailpiece on both my violins. Background:Both violins have Wittner-style tailpieces with integral fine tuners. (I do not know if non-Wittner tailpieces would be an issue.)Although tedious, the filing operation was completely successful with my very normal four-string violin. No one has a clue I did anything to the chin rest. However, with my five-string violin, I had to file clean through the chin rest to clear the tailpiece. (I have attached a photo.)I have since bought this, , which I suspect would have made the filing a non-issue. So, if you already have one of these, don't hesitate to get one of these very comfortable chin rests.
