Beautiful fife. It takes some time to find the right angle of wind direction. Nice mellow sound. I wish it had a thumb hole.

Doesn’t fit together correctly. If you can manage to shove it together enough to attempt to play it it’s terribly out of tune. Don’t waste your money.

Not very easy to make play, and I say this as a flautist! Sound is low with nothing special, but it does look pretty. Really useful as decoration or a whimsical buy. It’s worth the cheap price tag but not more. Overall would say I got what I paid for

I bought this a couple of years ago. I haven't tested the frequency of the notes, but they sound ok to the ear. One of the silver rings fell off the flute, and I had to glue it back on. It seems too quiet to me to be any use in a marching band situation.

nice flute but the tuning is really off and range is highly limited

This is a toy, not a musical instrument. It looks nice, and plays relatively easily, but it is woefully out of tune. It's close enough up to the three finger note in the second octave so that the notes can be bent back by careful blowing to produce a reasonable approximation of a scale. The two-finger note in the second octave is a bit flat, and all of the notes above that are completely hopeless (the one-finger note in the second octave is off about a semitone). There is no way this could be used for playing in an ensemble. Its only conceivable use is as a first training instrument to play real fifes or transverse flutes, but for that purpose, there are better choices available (the Yamaha fife, for example). The tone is not great, but it's not bad for an inexpensive instrument-- it does have a warm, wooden tone, although it lacks clarity and focus.I forgot to mention that the lowest note on the instrument is sharp to the rest of the notes, and has to be underblown significantly to get it to sound close to the proper pitch.

For the price I can't complain, but the lower note is definitely not in tune or even close the next note. But overall for the price it is fun and serves its purpose. I bought this flute to bring hiking and camping, so it is not like I am playing it seriously. The case is nice and light weight, although it doesn't fit the flute quite right. For a 20 dollar flute I can't complain, I have fun with it and that is what matters. The flute assembles well and seems pretty well made with the exception of the last hole.
