This product does what it says on the box, it will fix a damaged thread and the resulting repair is very strong. In the case of aluminum, the repaired threads are probably stronger than the originals. That said the coils in this kit seems like they are a bit too large, thus they have a tendency to skip the first thread or two when started, which can mess up the entire repair, particularly if the coil cannot be pushed out the other side and retried. Once a good coil is in place though, the resulting threads have a bit more play than they probably should as well.I'm my case though the price saved me a few bucks buying a new derailer hanger, and the detailers thread in very nicely now.

Worked like a charm, and hasn't lost compression. When using on a ttr125 head, I had to cut a couple threads off as it was a little bit too long. But it's not marketed for a ttr125, and its working fine so A+.

I only gave 3 stars because the description is wrong. The description says it comes with three different lengths of inserts. It does not. As you can see from my photo they’re all the same. Second, your hole needs to be at least slightly deeper than the thread is long. Someone suggested cutting the insert and that could be tough to do without stretching the spring which would mean it won’t work. These are pretty short at about 3/8 of an inch long. I am sure that’s perfect for a spare plug.Third this will probably only work if your hole is in aluminum or tin or some other soft cast metal. If it’s steel then the metal will grind the threads off the tap. I didn’t read well enough and missed the part about soft material so as you can see in my picture, the threads ground away as I tried to tap the hole. . Also the tap doesn’t come with a handle which seems like a very cheap thing to include. You can use a 8 mm socket or wrench. Also I saw that someone said the insert is hard to get started in the hole. If your hole is quite a bit deeper than the thread then you push the spring on the end of the inserted and it goes right in. If your hole is barely deeper than the insert is long then it’s probably going to be a pain.So if you’re doing soft metal and only need to thread say a 3/4” deep hole then this set will work really well for you.

To be honest, I did not expect much from a set this cheap but was pleasantly surprised. A set like this would usually set me back AUD $100+ and since it was a metric fine thread, would have been a special order and taken weeks to receive.For half the price of the name brand, I had these express delivered in a week.They worked just as well as the name brand helicoils.At first I expected the drill to be blunt after first hole or the cutting rake angles to be off, its still as sharp after drilling 10 holes and the holes drilled to the correct size.Then I anticipated the tap would struggle and break. It didn't. Tap cut threads perfectly, tap is still sharp. I recommend an appropriate cutting compound is used for tapping. I used Trefolex.Product was used on 12mm hot rolled mild steel plate.

The tread insert is made from spring steel and is a pain to install. I needed to make a repair right away so I could not wait to get a better kit, so I used it instead of returning the kit. I would not buy this type of kit again.

First time using one of these. Worked great and easy. Watched a YouTube and got a spark plug hole fixed on first attempt. This worked great on my wife’s 08 TTR125

Perfect replacement coil for my cannondale lefty. Installation is normal for a helicoil. I'd say easy but they can be finicky. Watch some YT vids and take your time. So much cheaper than the cannondale kit. Must have for Lefty fork!

Quality is excellent. Spark plug thread repair on a DLE 61cc engine was fast and it ran like new.
