March 2025: It's not quite fly season for us yet, so I will update this review as I use this product over the summer. I have used Absorbine fly sprays in the past, but have yet to try the "Gold". I personally didn't find the other varieties (EX and Red) to be effective for the flies in my area. The natural fly sprays seem to work much better but they often don't last longer than a few hours and you really have to apply quite generously. It also makes me nervous to use a chemical fly spray on my horse that has warnings on the back regarding overspray onto people...there is no way to spray a horse with fly spray and not get it on yourself unless you are in a still air environment and/or spraying onto a brush or mitt and applying with gloves on. Not only that, it makes you wonder about the long-term effect on the animal as well. Preventing diseases from flies and other insects is important, but not if you are causing other issues from long-term use or overuse of chemicals on the skin.I like that this spray is advertised to last longer with applications every 1-17 days, but I am skeptical that it will actually be effective for a full day let alone the full 17 days. The smell is different than most chemical fly sprays, I would describe it as pleasant. The bottle arrived sealed and undamaged. There is no spray bottle included with the refill sized gallon bottle, so make sure you have a sprayer on hand. For the price of this refill bottle, I can purchase a nice fly sheet, fly boots, and mask that will exclude 99% of flies and most other insects as well...for the entire season or more, so I wouldn't describe this spray as a good deal. I mainly purchase sprays for the times my horses can't wear sheets or other fly gear ie riding, vet visits, farrier visits etc.

Ultrashield is my "go to" brand of fly spray. It is consistent, reliable and works better than any brand I have tried. This goes on nice without gunking up the spray nozzles like some of the oily products on the market. This Gold product has a pleasant scent that is not overpowering like some others on the market it is sort of citrusy without being straight citronella. I especially like that it protects against mosquitos and ticks in addition to the usual offenders so we can use it for trail rides in addition to turnout. I exclusively use Ultra Shield for turnout for my horses in NY and we have a stagnant pond nearby so I take prevention seriously and am satisfied with the performance of this product. Ultra Shield Gold is a welcome addition to the Ultra Shield line as it prevents bites before bugs strike. This is great for horses that are bite reactive. I have a filly who gets itchy in the summer and I am hoping that this product prevents it this year as she destroys blankets so fly sheets are not an option for her.

This is my favorite brand of Fly Spray....ever.So far we don' have flys or ticks but we will shortly and I will be able to test it out more fully. It is a full gallon of fly spray, no need to dilute it, just add to a spray bottle and ready to use.Of first note : This smells great in comparison the what fly sprays smell like .. it does NOT smell like most fly spray!! I shook it up and it is very white and a little bit thick. It looks like it may have some coat shiner in it also. The directions say to use every 1-17 days and to reapply after washing or heavy rain.If this works anything like the other spray it will be great. The directions say to brush after application to bring out shine and the smell is so much more tolerable. I will update when I can apply it when there are flys and ticks.Irregardless, it is a little pricey for a gallon of fly spray. Especially with multiple horses and economics play a roll in my product choices, it is pricy. I know this brand is very reliable and if the base is from their other products it will work, but this is still pricy.My 4-stars is about the price, not this brand or the product itself.⭐️ 1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality, or it does not reflect the advertising.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or is not priced where it should be for the product.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable. It has some faults, but the quality is adequate for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable; it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

We were looking for a new addition to our fly spray for horses and I think this is the number one contender. The ease of filling this up every single day has made this a lifesaver considering how difficult it is to keep fly spray on hand.

This review is for the Absorbine UltraShield Gold 128oz Insecticide & Repellent for 100+ Insects, Use on Horses.Well I think it goes without saying, if you have horses you're almost certainly familiar with this brand of products. I've used their products for 45+ years. They're consistantly reliable good products that deliver good results. So it was a no brainer to grab this. I no longer have horses, but I do have dogs and myself and my mom LOL. I've always used the fly sprays on us and the dogs too without any harmful results. Nothing worse than being swarmed by flies/mosquitos flying insects, finding ticks on yourself/dogs/horses... whether out riding, working around the barn, working outside around the house/yard/garden... I also like spraying this around/on the doors/windows/screens... as it keeps the flying critters away from those areas too, that way less chance of flies and stuff getting inside the house when going in/out the doors...Good effective fly/bug sprays that work and last are expensive, buying in the big jug and refilling your own spray bottles is a cost efffective way to do it. It's not fly season just yet here in our northern state, if there's any issues I'll update my review.Regular price $ 112.48 per the listing for the gallon size jug.

This took a very long time to ship. This fly spray works fairly well or as well as other brands. It is significantly more expensive then others that work just as well.
