My 2002 Blazer steering was a bit loose and would wander as I was driving. I figured it could be the steering box, but since the idler arm was a bit loose as well and is way easier to change, I figured I'd start with that first.Easy to change ! Hardest part was separating the tapered stud from the center link. Thought a few taps with a hammer might loosen it, but ended up using a gear puller I already had (I don't own a pitman arm puller which is the actual item recommended for this job) which worked out just fine. In my case I had to tighten the puller further than I thought I'd need to....and when it came free it makes a loud snapping noise.Make sure you mark where the old idler arm is mounted to the frame since the mounting holes are elongated and you need to keep the same relationship as the existing one was installed. I used a pointed scribe and scratch around the old mounting bracket and fit the new one in the exact same position. Remember to install the grease fittings and actually add grease before putting vehicle back into service.Figured I worked at the entire job about an hour and a half from start to finish. Not difficult, just take your time and put everything back same as you took the old one off.
