I got this little stick welder to try hand at stick welding. I have a wire welder that works pretty good but thought stick welding might be better choice for some situations. The welder works ok on 110v but I have lot of trouble getting the arc going in the normal mode. After a lot of hair pulling I noticed the setting called "Hot Start". Selecting this made a huge difference in striking a usable arc. There is also a setting called Arc Force which I have not tried yet. So if striking an arc is troublesome try the Hot Start setting.

An awesome price for a awesome product! Got an amazing deal on this and it is well made and does exactly what it is supposed to! Have already fixed so many things around the house!!! The welding sticks it comes with aren't very good but I ordered a pack shown below the ad and they work perfectly with it!!!

Excellent welder. Did a cast iron weld repair with 1/8 rods with no issue. Very good buy. Lots of power off the 110 plug. It's so small. Surprised me for sure. Also love the quick disconnect for the ground and stinger.

Definitivamente no ha funcionado como esperaba, preferiblemente usarla con 220V para que el amperaje sea similar al que aparece en la pantalla.

This little thing works great and small and portable. Works well running off of a generator for mobile jobs. Would definitely recommend for the price!

As of this date, September 2024, the normal price of this item is $139.99. A 10% discount is available to apply at checkout.Additionally, this is a One-Day delivery item with Prime, perfect for a last-minute gift or purchase!- Perfect for Beginners: This welding machine is compact, lightweight, and easy to use, making it a great starting point for someone who has never welded before. As a complete beginner, I found it intuitive to operate, though mastering welding will take time.- Good for Light Work: While it’s not designed for heavy-duty use, it works well for lighter, occasional jobs. Friends who are experienced welders helped me test it and were impressed by its power, especially given its small size.- Portable and Affordable: Its portability, thanks to its lightweight design and carrying strap, makes it a convenient choice for someone on the go. The price is also reasonable compared to other models in this category.- Learning Curve: There’s definitely a learning curve with welding, but the machine’s hot start, ARC force, and clear LED display make it easier to get started. It’s a reliable option for honing your skills before moving on to more advanced projects.- Durability: Time will tell how well this machine holds up with extended use, but for now, it seems like a solid, compact option for beginners or for light, portable welding needs.Overall, this is a great unit for those just starting out or needing a portable welding solution. If you're looking for an affordable and easy-to-use machine to learn welding, this one gets a thumbs-up from me.

Burns 3/32” (2.5mm) electrodes like a champ. Ran all day at 115 amps (120 volts input supply) with out hitting duty cycle, and I was laying one rod after another. My other machine is a Miller Thunderbolt 160, this arc may not start QUITE as easy as the Miller, but it’s not worlds apart either. For $60 bucks, seems like a great value. The cables feel like copper clan aluminum, the rods (6013 I think) included are not the best. Time will tell if this think can take abuse, so far it really does a nice job, and me and my buddy can both weld. Note that I tripped my 20 amp breaker (shared with out deep freeze outside), going at 115 amps. If was in the 80s (F), and only did it one time. If I ever need to run 1/8”, I’ll run on 240 V and see how she does. Very doubtful this unit will do 6010/6011, as my Maxstar chokes on those. Overall, nice 3/32 E6013 rod burner, fits any budget!

As an Alberta "B" pressure certified welder I know a thing or two about welding. With that being said the lift arc tig mode works great. Nice arc initiation and pretty stable.Didn't try rooting any pipe since I bought it for doing socket welds or structural welding so I don't have to string out cables from my rig and rather just plug it into 220V.But welding in stick mode is another story. Electrodes would strike up nice no matter what the arc force or hot start was set. But depending on the size of the electrode the arc would just cut out. The smaller the electrode, the quicker it would cut out. I could get through most of a 4.0mm before cutting out and only around a third of a 2.5mm electrode before cutting out. Didn't matter what your settings were it would still cut out. Wouldn't even strike an arc on 110v.Guess you shouldn't expect much for the price but was hoping it would burn rod a little better.

I’m really impressed with the Welder! As someone who’s fairly new to welding, I was a little intimidated, but this machine makes it easy. It’s compact and lightweight, so moving it around the workshop is no problem. The setup was straightforward, and the machine feels sturdy. Now I have a lot projects in mind and exited to start welding.

I have never welded before, and so I’ve been relying heavily on a friend to teach me the basics. His thoughts on this machine is that it’s a very good introductory welding machine, and was pleased to see the included 10 welding rods. The rods are a J422 rod which is a rather forgiving rod in such that it can be used to weld in any position (horizontal, vertical and overhead), and it has low slag (which makes it easier to remove the waste) less splash and a more stable arc.Ya don’t worry, a lot of that meant nothing to me as well, but after seeing how it performed compared to some other rods that he tried it, it started to make sense. His recommendation going forward was a 6011 or even a 7018 rod.If I recall the 6011 can be used on dirty metal and the 7018 should be used on clean, but the results in the end are pretty similar……well with experience that is.The included brush and hammer combo will get you by for your first few practice rods, but you’ll need to get some real stuff if you plan on doing any additional welding. As well you’ll need a mask, gloves and a welding jacket wouldn’t be too bad either…..especially when the first few sparks land on your arm and start to burn. LOL..The adjustable amps on this machine makes it easier to see how the rods perform and how different they can be.Apparently the strike of the arc was good, but as a new person to welding I found it took a bit of getting used to.My main goal with this machine is to do some repair work around the property, so a few ugly welds (as seen in the attached pictures) aren’t going to bother me any.Given the price and the ease of use (with someone showing me that is), I think that this is an excellent introductory machine.

This is a pretty good affordable option to get into welding, and overall, it’s a capable little machine that offers good value for the price, and surprised me. It’s compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around for different jobs, which is a big plus if you’re looking for portability. The 205A model also includes a few useful features like Hot Start, ARC Force, and an anti-stick function that are great for beginners. However, the manual/instructions are the best, so if you are a beginner, you’ll likely have to supplement with watching some online videos before you feel comfortable with this machine.Good value, but the build quality feels on the lighter side. It’s not bad for the price, but don’t expect a heavy-duty, robust machine. There are some clear compromises, though that’s arguably moot for what you’re paying. It’s definitely geared more toward hobbyists or someone just starting out rather than a professional welder, but again that should be obvious given the price point and isn’t really a criticism.Performance: Despite the lighter build, it performs quite well, ‘once’ you’ve dialed in the settings which takes a bit of trial and error (as is common). The welder can handle a range of tasks thanks to its adjustable settings, and it’s surprisingly powerful, especially considering its compact size. (Note you’ll have to have a 220v power source to use the higher settings)The VRD and other features make it easier to start arcs and maintain control, even if you’re new to stick welding. It runs smoothly, though the setup might be a bit tricky if you’ve never used a stick welder before—there’s a learning curve (as with all machines), and the instructions are fairly limited, but you can supplement by watching some online videos and trial and error. Just make sure you practice a lot before you actually set about doing a project.Design and Portability: It’s very portable, thanks to its compact size. They also include a strap, but as another reviewer mentioned, it’s on the shorter side, but you can swap it out for something longer. The small, lightweight design makes it a good option for occasional use.Final Thoughts: For someone looking for an affordable, portable stick welder, the haxiaoer 205A is a solid option, especially for beginners and occasional use. It’s not perfect—the build quality is on the lighter side, and the instructions could be better—but it performs well enough to justify its price. If you’re new to welding or need a backup welder for lighter tasks, this is a decent choice. With price in mind, the only criticism I have is that the manual could have been better. Solid 4.4/5
