I am not a novice at woodworking or assembling furniture, yet I found this 6-drawer cabinet difficult to build with respect to keeping everything square and aligned. Assembly requires many wood screws. The screw holes are, of course, pre-drilled in the top pieces but there are no pilot holes in the wood pieces that the screw bites into. Therefore, it is necessary, using only one's hands, and some judgement as to exactly how the pieces should be aligned, to rigidly hold both pieces in alignment when sinking the screws. Virtually all the other furniture I assembled over the years, provides a pilot hole for alignment but none where to be found on this item. In spite of my best efforts, it is possible to notice that the drawers are not perfectly square. Also, the drawer guides are simply flexible light plastic pieces, some of which came warped and do not firmly friction fit onto the predrilled holes. Mounting the plastic guides is only by friction fit so I expect them to become a problem with time. Every drawer feels different when moving in or out and one, due to the warped plastic, requires sufficient force to pull out to move the entire cabinet. In my opinion this cabinet is not of acceptable quality.

I really wanted an artist taboret for my little chair in corner of the living room where I tend to pile all my art supplies and stuff. However, if you search for artist taboret, they start at around $700! That's an absurd price, so I settled on this piece. All the pieces are solid hardwood, except for the drawer bottoms and the cosmetic backing. Really a deal overall, I think.Took an hour or so for me to assemble. The instructions say don't use power tools. However, there are no pilot holes for most of the screws and unless you are really good at holding two boards at a right angle while driving in a screw by hand, well, I was not. I wound up with two places where the screw didn't go in straight and it split the wood! Luckily only inside where you can't see it, but I went ahead and found my tiniest drill bit and made some pilot holes for the screws for the drawer assembly and after that it all went smoothly. Also, they add a piece of wood they call the 'gate leg bracket'. However, with that piece in place, the drop leaf doesn't hang straight when not in use, so I removed it as I don't feel it is really necessary.Other than that, one of the wheels is reluctant to turn, but aside from that small issue, I am very happy with it!

A decent, flat pack, little set of drawers. The drawbacks: this was exhausting to put together. Lots of work. But, with the exception of one knot, and one stupid screw that wouldn't go straight, everything fit. It is well lined up, and I am happy with the chest. Sturdy? Ask me in a few years.I would prefer from this company again.

I was really nervous about this since some reviews make it sound impossible to build. My husband put two together for me to make one of those ikea Alex makeup tables. He said it was really no problem and you just have to use some sense when building it (like how others talk about pilot holes). Also some people said to use wood glue, we did not and it’s very sturdy. Husband did the screws on the frame by hand and the rest with a drill. One picture shows a knot on the front, not a gauge. One picture shows a ding.I added 6” legs instead of the included wheels. Makes it 29 3/4 total height.Without the legs it’s about the height of a 2 drawer filing cabinet.Tools:DrillSmall hammerPhilips screwdriverPros:Solid woodAccurate sizeReal black (not gray)Better quality than ikea or WalmartLooks niceAffordableCons:The wood is pretty soft. Just my finger nail with medium pressure left an indent. The drawer rails are basic, white plastic that the wood drawer slides on. No wheels.Doesn’t arrive pristine. I think because the wood is so soft there are little dings from handling at the warehouse. All in all it’s actually really great. Excited to see how it looks after I add a wood top.
