I had a professional install set up to put these on my driveway. The installer stated “These are the worse ground anchors he has ever seen. Very cheaply made and the mounting bolt sleeves were just falling apart while he was trying to install them. The company should pay me for the loss of money to installer. Buy At Your Own Risk!***Update***This company is another shining star in the Amazon fleet. I had an issue with my purchase and the company reached out to me pretty quick to offer a resolution. I have to say this is a company with integrity and I would purchase something from them in the future.

Navigating the urban jungle requires a reliable ride and a foolproof way to keep it safe. Enter the AKM Security Heavy Duty Ground Anchor, a robust solution tailored for those of us seeking peace of mind in bicycle or motorcycle security. This device stakes its claim firmly on the ground (or wall), promising a steadfast defense against theft with its 14mm alloy steel swing shackle. From the moment of unboxing, the anchor's build quality speaks volumes. The heft and finish of the alloy steel shackle suggest it's not just another accessory but a serious deterrent for any would-be thief. Installation is straightforward, albeit requiring some elbow grease and the right tools—something to keep in mind for the DIY-averse. However, the effort pays off, embedding a secure point that feels as solid as the ground it's attached to.What sets this anchor apart is its material strength and thoughtful design. The swing shackle adapts to various lock types and sizes, accommodating a wide range of security chains and locks. Whether you're safeguarding a sleek road bike or a hefty motorcycle, the flexibility in lock compatibility is a notable advantage.Of course, no security system is invulnerable, but the AKM Anchor significantly favors the owner. Its presence alone is a visual deterrent, and its robust construction withstands tampering attempts much better than lesser alternatives.Yet, it's not without its considerations. The permanent nature of installation means choosing its location requires careful thought, and landlord approval might be necessary for renters. Additionally, while the anchor excels in physical security, it's merely one component of a comprehensive anti-theft strategy, necessitating a quality lock and perhaps even a security system for full efficacy. The AKM Security Heavy Duty Ground Anchor serves its purpose with a no-nonsense approach to theft prevention. For cyclists and motorcyclists vested in the longevity and safety of their vehicles, it offers a reliable solution that, while not revolutionary, instills a significant layer of security to their daily parking concerns.

The working parts of this anchor are solid. The D-ring thickness is as advertised (14mm, including powder coat). The D-ring retaining bracket is powder coated steel 8mm (0.32") thick. The mounted D-ring internal opening is 2.55" wide at the bottom (as advertised) by 1.8" tall (at the apex). The substrate anchor bolts require a 2.56" deep drilled hole. Hole depth is important because the expansion sleeve must contact the bottom of the hole to seat properly when hammered in. The soft ball bearings are an added feature to prevent bolt removal. Not sure anyone would take the time to remove bolts rather than attacking the ring itself. All the parts were included. The plastic shroud is a nice cosmetic detail - not sure how long it will hold up in an exterior application, but it makes everything look nice. Of note, the anchor will still function just fine without the plastic shroud, if something were to happen to it. The dimensions in the product description pictures are a bit confusing (some are wrong) but the written description dimensions are pretty close. This anchor works as described.

I used it to run cables through rocking chairs on the front porch. Very strong and hopefully I will not have the chairs stolen again.

Overall, it's a good design. The core structure, joint, shackle, and bolts are all extremely sturdy. There is a resin cover for aesthetics and for rounding it over so you can drive over it and are less likely to trip on it.The shape, materials, thickness, and some anti-theft parts give me confidence that this anchor would definitely reduce the chances of theft for anything securely attached. This should offer a lot of deterrence, and substantially increase time for theft, especially if combined with other anti theft devices (wheel lock, steering lock, bike cover, etc.)It can be a bit of a challenge to install if you don't have the right tools and skills. You will want a carbide impact bit and a hammer drill if drilling into concrete. Otherwise you are asking for frustration. There's not really a way around that other than hiring a pro for installation.

Solid product and the price is reasonable.Note, you'll need a 16mm drill bit for concrete to set the anchor sleeves. It is also very helpful or even needed to use a few smaller bits to drill pilot holes for the anchors.Bits are not included with this product.
