We have about 5000 square feet of metal roof that we wanted to seal the screws on. This caulking gun may have saved a time and reduced material quantity used, but it was not as easy as the videos suggest. Trying various things and a few modifications helped. The biggest issue might be flow - a lack of it. First of all, some screws that don't project very far above the metal won't depress the movable disc and spring behind it. I ended up drilling a small hole through the disc and adding a metal screw that projected out about 1/8" - that helped a lot to let the caulking out.Another issue is that the spring is retained in the barrel by a metal disc above the spring with just small spaces at the edges. This restricts flow of the caulking a lot. A washer with a hole in the middle would let a lot more material past the spring and through to the end of the tool, reducing the pressure required to operate the gun. Even with gloves on, the pressure required soon caused a large blister in my palm. When I use it again, I plan to try a washer in place of the solid disc to retain the spring. It takes a lot of down force to operate this gun with the screw attachment. I ended up making a side handle to help with this. The plastic parts also concerned me. While the gun did not break - yet, metal could be a lot better.Another suggestion - the gun slides easily when put down on a roof. If it slides off, this creates a hazard for anyone below the roof and a fall could destroy the gun. I used a foot long piece of foam pipe insulation over the gun barrel, taped in with electrical tape. This helped make the work safer.Direction on what type of caulking to use would be useful. Silicone does not last that long on a metal roof, so we wanted to use something more durable. Someone suggested using Gutter Seal. Don't. It's too thick and sticky. We settled on a urethane caulking, which comes in a variety of colors and flows better. We hope it lasts.

IF you are going to buy this tool to cover metal roof screw heads, DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL!!!! We believed the video on their website and did NOT test the tool until the day we needed to start covering the screw heads. A VERY STUPID DECISION ON OUR PART!!! The video and Amazon pictures show a METAL CONNECTION between the extension and the cylinder, we received a tool with a PLASTIC CONNECTOR!!! On the FIRST reassembly it cross threaded!!! The filling of the tool is NONSENSE!! You have to disassemble the tool to bulk fill the tool. After the tool was full {30 minutes of screwing around} and the extension with the original valve was attached, when pressurized the loaded sealant POURED OUT of the connection ring at the tube end and from between the seal of the PLASTIC junction to the cylinder and the screw coating valve end!!! NO matter how tight we made the threaded connections the leaks persisted. Because we were on a tight time schedule with NO time to order another tool, we reengineered the pieces from the cylinder end to the end of the extension AND replaced the leaky valve with a valve of our design that worked beautifully!!! Our design allows the filling of the caulking gun WITHOUT any disassembly AND less mess and VERY QUICKLY. Albion deserves credit for the design of actual caulking gun assembly, which worked as designed, BUT NOTHING ELSE!!!I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL FOR SCREW COATING!!!

I fabricated another handle off those two slots on the other side of handle. This really helps in aiming it to the screw head. Wonderful tool and so simple to use. The cost of this bulk loading gun will pay for itself. I own a small mini storage complex....

While the Albion spot pro definitely saves your back cleaning is difficult as with any silicones. It did what I wanted without the backache in 1/3 the time. Worth the expense even if it’s never used again. Great product.
