I bought this with the intention of milling grain/flour. I’m very disappointed with this purchase. In order to achieve a fine flour texture, you have to grind each batch 4-5 times at different settings and this can’t be achieved for more than a cup at a time because It caused the kitchen aid to over heat. My kitchen aid is a month old and I believe that continued use of this product will burn it up.

I was hopeful this would be a good fit. Unfortunately that was not the case. The constantly jammed. I use my mixer multiple times a week and this just wasn't going to work.

This grain mill is of heavy metal and seems durable. The first thing I tried to do with is a make cracked corn for my chickens. The feed corn I use is larger than the dried corn used to make corn meal and this attachment had trouble with it. I was very surprised that the instructions said to fill the hopper before turning on the mill. I've used several grain mills and they all say to turn it on before adding any grain or else clogging could occur. And yes, that's exactly what happened. And it kept happening even when I would start it first and then drop in the corn. Once I figured out how the proper flow rate it did much better. It grinds wheat very well and didn't tend to clog on the smaller grains like it did on the corn. But I still recommend you not put anything in it until it is actually running. Filling it before turning it on is very bad advice on the manufacturer's part. I was surprised at how quiet it is! I have a WonderMill grain mill and it sounds like a jet engine, which is probably why I avoid using it. The quietness of this mill was a very welcome surprise. I can see myself going for this mill for when I just need enough flour for one loaf of bread. It's not worth setting up the jet engine mill just for that.

I feel like it's always a bit of a risk to order something that has no, or very few, reviews. So I am happy to report that I'm glad I placed this order. Good quality, easy to use, fits perfectly, and easy to clean. Well made, and exactly as represented in the product listing. A good value for the price too. I'm definitely satisfied and would order this again.

This is a pretty cool attachment for my mixer. I have only used it once for grinding oats, and it worked pretty well. It was pretty easy to attach, and easy to clean. I am anxious to try it on some other grains.

This is a really cool idea, however, you can make about 1 cup of flour before your KitchenAid is too hot to run anymore if you use the fine setting off the bat. That's not an exaggeration. I got this for Mom and she wanted to make 3 cups of flour. So we got the berries ready, started milling and in about 10 minutes I was up to 2 cups, which I expected it to take a bit of time. No big deal. But the KitchenAid was TOO HOT TO USE after just 2 cups.I didn't have a very good impression of this thing at first, but after using it a few times I kind of understand. This is a pretty critical review and I was contacted directly by the company for a full refund. I ended up not taking it because I still want the grinder, but it's nice to see a company stand behind their product. My suggestion is that if you want to make flour, take the amount of berries that you want to make out, run them through the coarsest setting twice, then a medium setting twice. Let your mixer cool for a few minutes (maybe 10-20 if you have a lot), then set the finest setting and do it cup by cup. Monitor your mixer and when it gets too hot, take a break.Keep in mind that letting your mixer get hot for long periods of time will degrade the internal components faster. So I've opted to grind the berries ahead of time to a medium grind (2x coarse, 2x medium) and then I've been grabbing the pre-ground berries when I need to make flour and it's pretty quick. Works well. I'm sure the berries won't last as long like that, but that's okay.

I like that it grinds wheat berries and it’s better than doing it by hand. The kitchenaid gets hot and you have to run the wheat berries through the mill a couple times to get it done and after two cups you have to let it cool, it’s just better than doing it by hand.
