I perform historical walking tours as a pirate I've been wearing these shoes for quite a while now. I love them! They are very comfortable, last a long time and quite affordable. No they are not historically accurate. I have a few leather shoes that are and they are uncomfortable and dont last as long on pavement, but for all around comfort, durability and price, these are the way to go. I bought a couple extra pairs for when these wear out. However, I would like to give credit were its due. The buckle was designed by Tiger Lee, owner of Pirate Fashions. He was not aware that his design had been "pirated" until he saw me wearing these and thought that I had added his buckle to them. The buckle is being used without the permission of the artist. But I guess that makes it a true pirate shoe.
