I'm going to do a formal review of this product on my channel but for the purposes of potential buyers on Amazon, this is the portable light you've been looking for. Is it the cheapest, no. Is it the most versatile? No. But it does exactly what it's supposed to do...deliver light where you need it.Whether it be for taking on the road or in your studio, these little guys do the trick and they're BRIGHT! I'm also the owner of Aputure's MC Pro (the older brother of the 25c) and, I'll be honest here, as I stand here today, right now, I'd easily outfit my kit with 2x the number of 25c's instead of the MC Pros. Or spend half as much but, let's face it, we all know we'd just by twice as much. Some nit picks on the kit...the tripod. I'm not sure who designed this but sometimes you should walk away from a design and ask yourself "What is this?" because if I'm being honest, the design is just way out there. People complained about the MT Pros tripod as not being useful. This is on par with that (plus it's heavy). Secondly, can we all agree that we just settle on the 1/4-20" mount as the standard and move on? This quick release thing that you've built into the design, while cool, is not necessary. Again, props to the designers for thinking outside the box, but a standard mount is fine when you're dealing with equipment from various manufacturers. An ARRI mount with locating pins would have been perfect in this case.Gripes aside, this is a great light and with the Amaran app, it's so nice to have in my arsenal.

I absolutely love this little light. First of all, the size is perfect if you are running with a small gear bag. It also has it’s own bag and the bag is well made with padded interior to protect the light. It is also a good size bag. The light goes in easy without feeling like you have to “stuff” it in. The bag is divided into three compartments with one compartment housing the light; another housing the tripod and a third compartment for the cold shoe mount and charging cable. The tripod and the cold shoe mount attach to the light magnetically which I found very stable and so easy to use. I like that I can mount and unmount the light so quickly. There is also a ¼” well if you want to mount the light that way as well. The light itself is well built and the controls are easy and intuitive to use. The grid and diffuser both have magnetic attachments making changing them super easy. The digital display is easy to read. The fan noise is very minimal and I had to be about 6 inches from the light to audibly notice it. The light output is amazing considering the size of the light. It is bi-color and you can adjust intensity. It also has the ability to do effects, although I really didn’t use it much for that.I had no issues charging the light and the battery lasted for quite a while. It’s kind of difficult to say how long the light lasted as I had different intensities and I was turning it off and on during my videos, but compared to other lights I have, it seemed to last a good amount of time.As a bonus, I was able to get the light in the pink housing. This may seem trivial, but I’m glad manufacturers are putting equipment into colors rather than the standard black. Maybe it’s a girly thing, but I love the pink color.Overall, I would definitely recommend this light.

I already own two of these Amaran Ace 25's, but went ahead and ordered this because of the accessory kit.I was already sold on the light itself. The design is very well thought out. They have definitely re-engineered what the typical small video lights all look like. Magnets are everywhere here, which is a big help. You can just stick the light on any metal surface because of the strong magnet built into the back panel (rubberized pad/no scratches). The attachment point on the light and the tripod and cold shoe adapter all have magnets as well. It attaches with a press of a button and locks into place nice and tight. Even after releasing the light from the tripod, you will still have to really pull at it to get the light off. So you get a clasp system plus a magnet system to keep everything tight. Superb thinking.Speaking of tripods, this is a great addition and all I could have wished for. It's made from metal, not plastic, and the feet are rubberized and YES...the feet have magnets as well. The tripod while small, has a center column so you do get a lot of versality in a small package. Cold shoe adapter is also well made, but the tripod is the star of the show here. It has no trouble handling the light.Well, the main attraction is the light of course, and Amaran does not disappoint. There is the obligatory FX settings, which is not my thing, but it's still there. The light is simple to operate, and fully adjustable with a very smooth scale from dim to bright. And it gets very bright. A little powerhouse light. Also included and new for me is the honeycomb diffuser. I really enjoy them on my studio lights, so to have one for this little thing is fantastic. I love the look that it displays on my subject matter. There is a built in fan which is very very quiet...should not be a problem for video.Lastly, it all comes in a nice PU leather zipper case, and the accessories are kept separate from each other and the light with padded dividers akin to camera bag dividers. So easy to stow this in my backpacks and camera bags. Everything in one little padded case.Love this light!
