This is a well made fitting intended to connect to an existing 3/8" copper tube. Note: this is intended for use in water applications, not propane. I mistakenly tried to install to branch off an existing propane supply line. At the time I didn't realize that compression fittings are only intended for water uses in a relatively stationary application. These are explicitly not intended for gas or propane use, especially in RV applications. As I learned, compression fittings do not provide a gas-tight connection. A flared brass connector is the appropriate fitting in any gas or propane application. Naturally, I was not able to return the item for exchange because of previous use. The related 3/8" flared tee works great, though I had to buy a flaring tool to install. No big deal! Lessons learned!
