I spent the last 8 months trying to figure out why I had a backfire through my carburetor on newly machined and rebuilt 350sbc. I tried 4 distributors, reseated the valves, tried 2 different new carburetors, had the heads completely redone, and pulled the motor and had the cylinders re-ball honed, and the pistons re-ringed, put a new cam in it, and a brand new intake. It has literally been a nightmare. I have taken the advice of several engine builders and had three different mechanics try their hand at figuring it out. We have tried EVERYTHING and replaced everything. Keep in mind everything I listed was all new to begin with. This engine literally had 150 miles on it. I would have given up long ago and cut my losses except for the fact that my Dad recently gave me this 1st series 55 chevy truck that he bought in 1975. I have been miserable, spent way too much money chasing a problem, and was told by my doctor last week that I have stomach ulcers. And after EIGHT MONTHS OF THIS, two days ago a mechanic spent 4 hours going over everything and then discovered it. This manifold, when cast had a thin metal part left covering the hole for cylinder 8 and was completely blocked off. . An 86 dollar manifold from Amazon caused 8 months of misery and wasted money on my dream build. I am relieved and disgusted at the same time. In short DO NOT BUY THIS MANIFOLD. If you do, inspect it VERY WELL, as soon as you get it.

I installed this in my 350 swapped toyota 4x4. The casting wasn't perfect but it's doing great
