You might think this is a "luxury" tool but after using it, it's essential. This will let you install the shims you need to get the preload correct without bending shims. This makes it easy and will allow you to do it right instead of good enough.

If you want bearing preload you will have to use a diff spreader or tap/pound in your shims. This tool makes tapping in the shims much easier and does it without damaging them like a hammer will.

Bought this to use to drive in carrier bearing shims wo damaging them. Must have tool........beats using driftspunches any day. Price is worth it & value is good.

The time saved by using this tool makes it worth the price. Each section is wide enough to tap in the entire shim pack all at the same time without wrinkling those 0.005” paper thin shims in the middle of the stack. Beats a block of wood hands down.

Overall good but a few laser or plasma dross boogers around cuts. Should have been cleaned better before plating. A miss in quality control?
