Love the fit of this coat! I bought it for work, but now wear it just about everywhere. It does fit tight around the hips/butt region, so if you are larger in that area, size up. I at first didn’t like this, but grew to love the fit, since it gives a more feminine and less bulky fit.

I tried both the Carhartt and Ariat women's FR jackets. I greatly prefer the Ariat jacket.The jacket has a fleece lining and is very warm. (Actually not quite as warm as the Carhartt, but that comes at it's own cost.) I am able to move comfortably even with layers. The zipper teeth are made of plastic, but the zipper itself is metal. Overall the jacket feels very well made. It also has a flattering shape to it.This jacket runs small. I normally wear a medium. I ordered a large. With layers the jacket is on the tight side, especially around my hips. I still think a large will work for me, but if you want a loose fitting jacket, go two sizes up.
