The original part sheared where the pulley meets the bearing. There is a design flaw due to Ariens where the pulley sits slightly above the pulleys for the clutch and transaxles and puts strain on this part, which is why I reduced one star. This is fixed by installing it with a couple washers as spacers; I believe I used 3. The mower has run smooth since installing this part. I didn't find any aftermarket parts that fix the flaw.
