I bought these bolts because I thought it would make my brand new 12k engine install go smoothly. When the mechanic put the bolts in they started feeling weird half way in. First we thought we would try to install engine with headers already attached, we changed our mind and started removing and the bolts. About halfway out they started getting stuck. Two of them actually broke leaving the rest stuck in my head. holy crap what a nightmare, had it go to machine shop where they tell me heads will need to be removed for them to get bolt out. As a test we took one of the brand new bolts and ran it threw the "1.25" dye. What we found the dye shaved some of the steel off the bolt around the middle. Once we did this they went in fine. Bottom line, if you buy these bolts I would for sure run them thru something to clean them up. We tried to get one out but failed, ARP being stainless and tough metal makes it hard to use easy out or weld nut.

Installed my Gibson shorty Headers using these APR header bolts. They work as advertised and look absolutely great on my LS engine. As with ALL header bolts, make sure to re-torque the bolts after the engine gets completely cool. Do this after the first few engine heat cycles and you will get the bolts seated for good. John

Damn nice set of header bolts, but probably overpriced for what they are. Interestingly, the factory bolts now have a larger hex head on them. These ARP bolts still mimic the old still of header bolt that was prone to snapping off over time. If these don’t suffer the same fate they will be worth the money.The bolts also come with a set of really nice washers. They’re not ordinary washers, they’re smaller in diameter and about twice as think as a typical stainless metric washer.
