Not worth the price. Used it to remove a water pump pulley that worked but try reinstalling the pulley & the bolts that came with it are so soft they strip the threads, could only press the pulley half way on & that’s as far I could go with it, a waste of money better off buying a decent set. as this one only does half a job.

This is my second puller. I seem to wear these out quick when I pull the pulleys off the pumps. These are indispensable when installing a pulley on a power steering pump. My friend who works on trucks told me to use a little grease and it makes installing the pulleys really easy. Follow the directions on the package, this tool is the best for DIY people who want to save money. I would always recommend buying a new pulley with every power steering pump and having one of these tools in your box.

Needed to remove power steering pully from shaft of pump and reinstall onto new Power steering pump. This Puller Kit Worked perfectly. Much cheaper option than having a shop charge an hour labor to do same job.

Without a pulley tool, most pulleys metal can be muscled off with time and effort, however plastic pulleys tend to break rather than give in to prying or pounding. This kit, effortlessly pulled the power steering pulley from my pump, and made installing the new pulley, a breeze. The cost of this tool, even if only used once, is worth the headache and frustration of not having the right tool and possibly damaging your parts. Use it more than once and it has easily paid for itself frustration avoided, or hiring someone to remove your pulley. Highly recommended!

Pro: cheap.Cons: Cheap.I used this tool one time and it broke. The threads are so short and so weak that they pulled right out the first time I used this. I had to go to Harbor Freight and buy this kit from them halfway through replacing a power steering pump. This tool was designed poorly. Don't buy this if you want to get the job done in one day. This is the third Astro Pneumatic Tool that has failed within weeks of owning. This one failed the first time I used it!

I had an annoying power steering leak from the rear plate seal, the pump would also whine pretty loudly in cold weather due to air ingestion. It was time to rebuild the pump. I ordered this tool for the pulley removal and installation as well as a seal kit. I had absolutely no problems at all. The tool smoothly removed the pulley and installed it when I was done. My pump/shaft had little to no corrosion so no extra effort was needed except for the tool. If your pump shaft is rusty you'll need to clean it up best you can before using this or any pulley remover. If the pulley binds, it could break this or any other type of tool so be diligent. I don't think this tool is prone to failure but I do believe some situations are worse than others and if you're not careful, things can strip or snap.

Excellent, wonderful tool. I was replacing the power steering on my 86 chev. A frame p/s unit, pain in the neck to replace. The p/s pulley is attached by pressure, not a screw - and there are bolts for the bracket mount behind the pulley. The pulley must come off - and then go back on. This tool worked perfectly! I was puzzled by the directiions, but then I let the engineering speak to me, and off came the pulley. The pulley was 350k miles old. I used a little penetrating oil, let it rest overnight - and off it came. Takes muscle. Do it slow. I used a couple of big wrenches. Then I used another part of the tool to put it back on. You pull it off and you screw-grab it back on. The center spinle of the p/s is hollow and has screw threads which the grabbers take, and pull the pulley forward onto the shaft. Amazing!!! Took me 25 minutes to figure out the tool and take the pulley off. I could now do it in 5 minutes. Took me 7 minutes to put the pulley back on. Requires muscle and slow movement, little at a time.

Ok, I have mixed feeling about this product. I needed to remove and install a pulley on a GM power steering pump. Removal is simple and this worked perfectly. Installing the pully was another issue. The bearing and pusher washer were the problem. I could go into a lot of detail on what I think is the issue, but the solution I found was pretty simple. Installing the pulley incorporates a ton of pressure on all parts of the kit. What I found is that during installation is that the friction caused by the pusher nut would always overcome the ability of the bearing. After hours of some redneck engineering, I found the simplest solution was to add some additional "friction". During pully installation on my power steering pump, the inner part wouldn't rotate properly. Causing the bearing and pusher nut to rotate together. this would cause the entire assembly and process to fail. Since the power steering pump pully had to be installed while attached to the motor, the final soution I sound was to put a ratchet strat around the pully. It did not wrap around anything else, but the end result was the friction was just enough to overcome the opposing friction caused by the pully installation. I fought installing the pully for 3 days about an hour each day. After putting the ratchet strap in place, the pulley installation was done in under 5 minutes. Sorry this was long but up until I figured out this solution, I would've given this product a 0 star rating before I came up with the solution. Oh, and I also rented a professional pulley installer from my local parts store and their kit was almost 100% identical to this product.
