I was hesitant to purchase this elliptical bonded cartridge because of numerous bad YouTube reviews, but since there was a 10 percent off deal, and it was already low-priced, I took a chance. This cartridge has EXCEPTIONAL stereo imaging, and offers an extremely vivid, bright, jangly tone with lots of presence. The top end of this cartridge is much better than that of the nude elliptical AT-VM95EN which I also own. In fact, this is a much better all-around cartridge than the AT-VM95EN and costs almost the same. This cartridge has good overall balance, unlike the the AT-VM95EN which is lacking in heft, most notably in the midrange. My Doors 45 RPM Analogue Productions reissues have never sounded so good.

Superlativo!

I've been using the VN540ML for a while now and bought the 520eb for another turntable, a Technics SL150 mk1, SME 3009 ii improved with FD200 damper. This cartridge may not be everyones cup of tea. It's crisp, punchy and very dynamic. A very modern sounding cartridge. It tracks very well on all three test bands on the HFS 75 test LP which is impressive for a bonded tip budget cartridge. As far as comparisons go it's leaps ahead of the VM95e and worth the extra money, it tracks and sounds better than a 2M red,to my ears and competes favorable with the MP110 in some areas with no hint of IGD but that of course is subject to critical set up. It has a very lively, but transparent character and ploughed through some very dense heavy metal like a champ. The MP110 is a warmer and richer sounding cartridge with deeper bass which some may prefer, but doesn't have the leading edges of the 520. The 520 is more forward and 'pushier' than it's sibling, the 540ml, which is a much more refined beast, but on some rock LP's I actually prefered the 520eb for it's life and character. All in all it's a bargain. If you want your LP's to sound warm and woolly, honey coated, and nothing like real live instuments then look elsewhere. This is a firecracker, with snares cracking out and cymbals crashing with aplomb. Fun, hell yes, but strangely not fatiguing. Keep the capacitance loading low though otherwise it may turn sour, 200pf or less including cables. Recommended for those who like their vinyl to sound lively and crisp and are into pop and rock. Maybe not relaxed enough for smoochy Jazz, the MP110 would suit better there, but it did sound good on Big Band giving Buddy Rich, live at Ronnie Scott's, a very dynamic and real presentation. Opera headbangers might like it's slightly forward presentation of vocals and excellent tracking ability. Perfect no, but won't nod off listening to this one.

I purchased this MM cartridge for a new Technics TT. It captures mid and upper frequencies very nicely. Since most of my record collection is 60-75 years old I needed a stylus that adds more range to the sound. There are many mono, stereophonic, and high fidelity LPs out there still in very good condition and I would recommend this AT 20EB/H cartridge.

This cartridge offers a lot more dynamics than the one that originally came with my LP120. There is a noticeable difference in the mid-range clarity as well as the high-end as well. Definitely a good purchase if you're upgrading from the stock cartridge although there may be better options out there.

I must admit I was a bit skeptical at how much this would improve my stock AP120. I felt the stock needle was really lacking in the highs but the mid and bass was acceptable. I have it going to a Marantz pm8003 and a pair of Klipsch KG4.2. Well hole E. shiat. This thing made it sound like a blanket was taken off the speakers. The highs are sooooo much better. Louder, cleaner, clearer, airy-er, and so forth. That’s just the beginning. Imaging is substantially better. Mids about the same, maybe a bit more relaxed. As far as bass goes there is an improvement there. Not more bass, not lower bass… just… better bass. Tighter and more accurate for sure, hard to really put in words. As a whole the entire sound stage is just wider and fuller. The difference is absolutely night and day and I can’t believe what a difference a little tiny needle can make in the quality of sound reproduction. This is my first turntable so I have nothing else to compare it to but I can’t help but to feel like for the money this is the way to go if you have an AT 120 or similar variant. I am sooo happy with my setup now, I’ve never enjoyed listening to records as much as I do now thanks to this upgrade. I am curious how much better the 540 is and if it’s worth the money. When this one dulls out I might find out for myself. Also it needed no adjustments, the 2g weight and 2 anti skate is perfect. I bought an alignment tool and it was spot on right out of the box. I literally just took the old one out and put this one in. Done.

I purchased this cartridge to hopefully be a good match for our audio-technica 1240 USB turntable. I am very pleased. It seems thoroughly capable of playing loud rock music, blues, and jazz from vinyl. It has a punchy sound and is good at revealing the instruments in our home theatre player system. I have been using a Grado Green cartridge which I still like, although the audio technica VM520 EB cartridge might be more well suited to the turntable. The VM520EB is of course more expensive, so it is probably unfair to compare it to the Grado Green. The Green in my view is quite a good value, and is perhaps more melodic than the VM520EB. In short, I plan to use them both, since they each have some nice qualities. If you get the audio technica VM520 EB cartridge be sure to mount it with the tone arm level to the record surface, as the manufacturer specifies. Otherwise the music might sound distorted, so do it correctly. One disappointment might be that the stylus is only good for about 300 hours. The nice thing is you can replace it, when it wears out, with a number of other stylus possibilities. I plan to upgrade to a audio technica VMN30EN elliptical nude stylus, which lasts about 1000 hours. It should also have an even better sound quality than the original stylus. However, this upgrade does cost over 100 dollars so be aware of this. By the way, the stylus on the Grado Green is good for about 1500 hours, and is cheaper. Still the VM520EB is quite a nice cartridge, I think, and very well suited for my audio technica turntable.

I decided to buy the VM520EB after trying (and being disappointed in) the VM540ML.It ended up checking all of the boxes. Very detailed and accurate but not shrill at all (unlike the 540ML)!Nice bass, treble, detail. Great tracking and with good pressing, no noticeable siblance.I compared it with the previous model, the AT100E and it is noticeably better in every way, though the AT100E is a very smooth and excellent operator. I swapped the stylus from the AT520EB with the AT100E and it played very well with the AT100E cartridge.I favor the VM520EB over the Ortofon 2M Blue and Red and the AT-VM95EN.

I was in need of a 78 rpm needle for my turntable. After much time and many reviews later I found the Audio Technics Cartridge. I had been using a far inferior needle up to this time so I pulled the trigger and upgraded. Wow, what a difference. This cartridge set up has changed the way I listen to music. I figured I would spend a few more bucks on a quality cartridge and this is the one. The sound quality is much more refined. The highs are more clear and the lows are more defined. If your'e looking for an awesome needle for your 78 records, you found it.

Definitely an upgrade from the cart that came with my old Stanton STR6-80 turntable. I'd say it's worth the money. I instantly noticed a boost to the low end and to the highs. Vocals are really coming through crisp and clear on the Moody Blues record I'm listening to right now. This cart came packaged with a couple different length mounting bolts and nuts, however they were not long enough for the head I have, fortunately the ones I had worked. Was just about as easy/difficult to install as any other. Small and delicate. As this is not a top notch high end cart I wouldn't recommend it if you have a several thousand dollar set up. My complete set up is probably only a $500 set up. I wanted to give my system a little boost and I figured a new cart was the way to go.Sounds good, tracks well..happy customer
