We bought this filter to replace our old Austin healthmate Jr filter My husband says it takes quite a bit of effort to remove the old filter not like the video just lift it out only running for 3 days otherwise so far so good:

You have to turn the entire heavy unit upside down, remove and replace 4 screws to install it. I told this to their customer service employee, but she didn't care at all to hear feedback. Other brands with true HEPA and charcoal filters have much easier, faster replacement filters, and are lighter weight to move around. I bought another brand for my living room for the same price as this Healthmate Jr. in my bedroom. The new one is quieter, Much easier to replace filters, is lighter, works as well and even has a light that comes on to remind you separately when to clean the outer dust filter, and when to replace the HEPA filter.

This filter is the real deal. There is no odor after filtering which is wonderful. The price paid for these filters is, as always, to high. Save your receipts and send in the warranty because there is a program which allows you to get a partial discount on your next filter. The discount is based on the number of years of use before end of life. If end of life at 2 years then a 40% discount on the next purchase. The product is supposed to last up to 5 years, but the actual lifespan depends on the operating environment.
