This is a very basic helmet and it DOES NOT have battery operated darkening. It's constructed of plastic and it a bit flimsy, the replacement screens are very thin.

WORKS GOOD!

I got this helmet for one of my kids, to teach welding to. It's not a high quality helmet and I do not expect it to last all that long...at least not if it gets heavy use. The headband is a little flimsy. That said, it works well, it fits and it has good coverage! The auto-dark lens works well and the adjustability is good! It has a large viewing port, which is really nice..it feels much less claustrophobic than other cheapos with small portals.Seriously for the price, it's an easy Recommend! While I am only giving 3 stars, for the reasons described above, if I just consider affordability and basic (short term) function, then this is probably closer to 4 stars.

There were no items in the package that were missing or damaged. Great budget welding helmet for the beginner, might be too tight for big heads. My head isn't that big, and I'm on the loosest setting for the top of my head on the headgear. Comes with no instructions, so you'll have to figure out how to fit the headgear to the helmet, as well as what to do with the settings and on the auto-darkening lens. It's a thin plastic, so it's not considered a protective helmet, mostly to shield most of your vision from the brightness of welding.

The helmet and headgear are somewhat flimsy plastic, but for occasional use, this helmet does the job providing a level of protection. The clarity of the lens is quite good (be sure to remove all the packaging film). When mounting the headgear, check the position of the ratchet limiter - it might be assembled in the wrong orientation to flip up the helmet.
